Every few weeks it’s time for a little girl time. Sometimes we stay in and watch the Great British Bake-Off and eat cake, sometimes we get dressed up and have cocktails and sometimes we like to do something in between and eat some tasty food, drink wine and have a gossip in a relaxed setting. The latter was the theme for our most recent girl’s date night. We headed to Veeno on Friday night, situated at the top of Middle Pavement in Nottingham, a stones throw from our office for a little wine tasting.
This was my first time at Veeno and I really liked the interior, it was really chilled out and had a warm atmosphere, perfect for a Friday evening. We sat down and order the Wine Tasting Selezione, a selection of meats and cheeses with five different wines; two whites, a rose and two reds. We were talked through each wine and they were matched with each meat or cheese, we were all surprised how well the food and drink went together. I was probably sceptical that they actually would complement each other but I was pleasantly surprised! We had to order an extra bread basket and some bruschetta and I would definitely recommend ordering more to eat than just what’s on the wine tasting selection if you don’t want to be rolling out of the door still hungry and a little bit drunk! To finish off we had a gorgeous tiramisu and a dessert wine, the tiramisu was amazing and it was a lovely way to finish off the experience.
Out of the five of us, there was only one red-wine drinker and the rest of us were more Prosecco girls and were definitely not wine connoisseurs, to say the least. We all left having enjoyed every single glass of wine and having learnt a little bit too! I’d definitely visit Veeno again, it was a great experience which was really fun and all the wine and food is really incredible. Even if you’re not usually a wine drinker, you may surprise yourself and really enjoy it.
