We like to get out and about in the UK, try new towns and cities and always find a new coffee shop to delve into. This weekend we stayed at the Cheltenham Park Hotel which is a huge hotel in the beautiful Cotswolds and I thought I’d tell you all about it.
The Location & Facilities
Cheltenham Park is actually located in Charlton Kings, about 2 miles drive from the centre of Cheltenham in a quiet area and only about 10 minutes from Cheltenham Racecourse. It’s a really big hotel, one of the biggest I’ve stayed in but the rooms are all great sizes. There is a gym, spa, beauty and health club facilities with a pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. We spent some time in the well-equipped gym and the pool on Saturday afternoon which was lovely. I decided to run a 5km in addition to my Marathon In A Month that I’m doing for the British Heart Foundation and I loved running on an actual treadmill instead of the road for once!
The Room
Our room was a great size, big enough for two armchairs, a table, and the super comfy bed as well as a massive telly. The bathroom (yep, with a bath!) and the shower were really modern which I was pleasantly surprised about. I find that a lot of hotels still have pretty old-looking bathrooms but this one was gorgeously modern – love the tiles. Rooms were already supplied with water, chocolates, tea, coffee, robes, slippers and an iron and ironing board – things that you usually have to request. I love that these things were already there, it felt quite luxury. The only thing I have to say is that the doors aren’t heavy enough to close themselves so if you’re used to just walking out of your hotel room and the door locking behind you – you’ll have to check you’ve locked it!
The Dinner
We had a three-course dinner at the Lakeside restaurant which was lovely. The menu was really big but we both opted for the same three courses! For starters, we both had the heritage tomato and mushroom risotto which was really comforting and yummy. For main, we had belly pork, fondant potatoes, pickled cabbage, greens and a cider cream jus. So, so good! And, for dessert, the sticky chocolate cake and clotted cream were the first thing that we went for. Starter and main were both amazing and we were really impressed but the desserts definitely weren’t made at the hotel so it let things down a little bit but it was still yummy.
The Breakfast
A hotel breakfast is one of my favourite things. At Cheltenham Park, there was also a full cooked range of breakfast, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and toast but I went 100% continental and had a little pastry, some watermelon and meats and cheeses and they were all delicious. I’d definitely recommend a stay at Cheltenham Park if you need a comfortable stay in the Cotswolds with a great restaurant. The only thing I’d say is that I don’t think there was a bar, unless we didn’t see it because the hotel was so big! It would have been nice to have had somewhere to have a drink after dinner.

A huge thank you to Cheltenham Park for our complimentary stay. We received a one-night stay, dinner and breakfast in return for a review of the hotel.
