Well it’s been a couple of weeks! Needed a break from blogging, I’ve still been busy on Instagram but I’ve been plotting some cute new content for the coming months and I’ve taken a bit of a summer hiatus to get my mojo back. We recently had an amazing couple of days in North Yorkshire and I wanted to share some of the fun stuff we got up to as well as the amazing place that we stayed.
On the way up to our little hideaway we decided to visit Harrogate to break up the trip and make a day of it. Check in was at 3pm like it usually is with many places to stay so we explored Harrogate, ate at a place called Farmhouse below the Everyman Cinema which was pretty tasty and found North Bar, one of our favourite breweries that we visited in Leeds last year for a quick two thirds!
We then wanted to visit a National Trust place that we’d researched called Fountains Abbey and used our membership to pop in here for a peek. It was gorgeous, the weather was amazing and we had a wander around the amazing grounds and within the old Abbey itself. Fountains Abbey is perfect for a picnic as there’s a huge expanse of grass right by the old Abbey and loads of room to spread out and chill.

Where?
We stayed in the ‘Knotty & Nice’ cabin from Braisty Woods Cabins in Summerbridge, about 30 minutes from Harrogate and an hour from Leeds. We found Gemma and Stuart’s lovely lodges via Airbnb but we’d definitely be booking direct in the future as they pass on their Airbnb savings to you which of course is lovely of them as they won’t pay the Airbnb fees if you book direct with them. The cabins really are amazing, they’re about a 1.5 mile drive from Brimham Rocks which are looked after by the National Trust.
What?
Ok, here are the details. First up, the rules – no pets or children, over 18s only and maximum two adults to a lodge. But that’s pretty much all of the rules apart from the hot tub specific ones where you have to sign a waiver before going. Health and safety first – of course!

You’re supplied with a private hot tub including robes and flip flops. The kitchen was nicely stocked with freshly baked shortbread, eggs and milk, tea, coffee and sugar, all the cooking utensils and foil/cling film etc you’d need to be able to stay in and cook, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid! There’s a bath and separate shower with toiletries as you’d get in a hotel including shower gel and soap and the living room has a comfy armchair, large sofa and tonnes of board games plus Netflix on the telly where you can log into your own account!
The whole cabin was spotless and we were greeted when we got there which was lovely and there were chickens running around outside and cows in the field opposite which is so nice to see when you live in a suburb of a city.

What to do?
Well apart from chill the hell out with shortbread, cups of tea and a good book and take dips in the hot tub we popped out for a few pints and a lovely charcuterie board in nearby Sawley at a rather nice but pricey pub called the Sawley Arms. On our main day there we took the National Trust mapped out Brimham Rocks to Pateley Bridge circular walk which was around 7km to Pateley Bridge and them 7km back to the Brimham Rocks carpark.
We grabbed a quick lunch in Pateley Bridge of pork pies from the local butcher and visited the oldest sweet shop in England! There are some lovely pubs, tea rooms and places to grab lunch in Pateley Bridge and thank fully the rain eased off as we sat for lunch and chilled out before trekking the 7km back home. We loved this walk, the weather was a little bit drizzly but we powered through and after a full day of 20,000 steps we were done.
On our first evening we popped out and on our second night’s stay we chilled with pizza and garlic bread and watched Netflix as we were knackered by our walk. We would definitely recommend taking loads of food and just cooking at home if you’re planning on walking and being super active as we preferred this to trying to find pubs to eat at as we were so pooped we just wanted to hot tub, shower and snooze on the sofa. You can get takeaways delivered to the cabins though which is also really cool and there’s a guest handbook folder full of information and menus to help you out.
We’d love to head back here and our host Gemma was lovely, the cabins are beautiful and the whole area is stunning and amazing for relaxing and switching off. Have you visited North Yorkshire before? Let me know your favourite weekend break destinations!
