This is a little extended money diary that I thought I’d put together because it’s a little bit different. This is where we’re planning to spend money that we’ve saved up previously for the house. The majority of this spending will be on our house additions because it’s all project decoration right now! We were off work all of this week and also had our anniversary which was also meant to be our wedding day.
Friday
This is my first day of over a week of annual leave and I was so ready for some time off doing nothing! Today was spent popping to the Post Office for an eBay parcel and a good friend’s birthday present (£5.32) and off on a lovely big walk with my lovely mother in law.
We’re also at the start of the second lockdown at the moment so there’s no trips to the pub or lunches out which I’m sad about. The only shops open are supermarkets and ‘essential’ ones. Pop to Lidl for some anniversary breakfast pastries and juice and some other supplies for the week (£12.50) from our shared house account.
Saturday
Today was our anniversary and I had a lovely surprise of a treasure hunt and some lovely pressies before we went to Hardwick Hall. We bought coffees but we’re members so no fee to get in! On our way back home to a picnic lunch we grab some bread from a local artisan bakery called Spelt & Rye for £3.
Dinner, Strictly and Prosecco after we paint the first coat on our dining room ready for a second coat tomorrow.

Sunday
We buy a light fixture and some new dining chairs to go in our decorated dining room. £87.99 for our light fixture and £219.98 for the four chairs. As well as lovely anniversary plans on the list this week is getting lots of house jobs and decorating done so I pop our dining chairs on Facebook Marketplace and they sell for £50. We’re gifted an amazing takeaway roast dinner by in-laws/parents and it’s delicious.
More painting today but our dining room is ready for finishing off!
Monday
We find a sideboard for our new dining room £120 and order some frames from Desenio for our dining room (£43.96) and en-suite. Our flooring guys pop by to fix some floor that they’d fitted the week before that had lifted. After the weekend we’re having a chilled day, pop to the Post Office for some more eBay postage (prepaid from the sales on Sunday but I can’t remember how much sold – not a lot!)

Tuesday
Today is painting day again! We’re onto the landing and hallway this time but first, time for pastries from our local Co-op (£2). Evening break to grab avocados to go with out chilli for dinner. Order a light fixture for our landing – £19 from eBay.
Wednesday
Finish our painting this morning and then it’s off to do a food shop (£64) at Tesco – a mega shop as we haven’t been for one for a while! Have a chilled afternoon watching White Boy Rick on Netflix and eating snacks.
Thursday
Another day, another National trust walk, we head to Calke Abbey – one of our favourite places and again pick up coffees, L pays.

Friday
Order some lightbulbs for our new light fixture in the dining room from Amazon – £19. Our electrician is coming next week to fit loads of light fixtures and do some outdoor lights for us which will be another big house outlay! When this is done that’ll be loads of little things ticked off our list and we’re also planning a kitchen makeover too.
Chilling this morning, avocado and halloumi brunch and then I do my nails with my at-home gel kit (missing my nail girl right now!) and then I’m off for a walk with on of my besties and her doggo.
Get home and some listings from Facebook marketplace are being collected – a stool, a clothes rail and a football net sell for £48.
This evening we’re picking up a Turtle Bay gifted dinner which was featured on my Instagram, the food was amazing. We watched Queen & Slim on Prime and it was amazing too, such a great film.
Spent (jointly as a couple overall this time) – £577.75
Made – £98 + some eBay bits I can’t remember so minimal!
