AD – Collaborative post with Carparison
Before the second lockdown and after the first we were planning our honeymoon trip to Scotland and this post with Carparison came up and I thought it was the perfect time to share what our plans were and what we’d love to do in the future.
Where?
We wanted to spend a whole week travelling from where we are in Nottingham, up to the Lakes as a stop off on the way and straight to Ayr to see the beaches, have some amazing fish and chips and explore things there.
We then planned to go to Sterling and check out the gin distillery there, Glasgow for a mini break, maybe even fit it Fort William for some hiking and Edinburgh for another mini break that’s been on our list for years. For this trip wanted to have some shopping, lots of food, some walks, culture, history and seeing so many places we haven’t seen before. We also wanted to visit Durham on the way home so we’d completed a big loop.
This was our original plan and something we’d love to do in the future so I thought I’d share the travel plan for anyone if they might find it useful. We planned to head off really early so that we could fit in the Lakes and the long drive to Ayr in one day and the same on the way back to get home fairly late so we’re able to have a late lunch in Durham and explore there a little bit too.

Close friends of ours have moved up to Edinburgh and we really want to visit them! Look how gorgeous it is at Christmas in this picture. It’s one place that we’ve always wanted to go to but never have, I want to visit the Fringe Festival, see the castle, the sights, Arthur’s Seat and pretend I’m in One Day – all of it.

How?
We looked into hiring a Volkswagen van and other camper style vans because we fancied stopping off and having a cup of tea on our travels but then we thought as this might cost an arm and a leg, why don’t we get a new car for the future – now? With things like Volkswagen leasing deals you can find the right deal for you for your next car. We were planning too get a bigger car *at some point* and it’s still on the cards but we would have probably sized up and got a mini SUV type like the Tiguan or something for this trip and then so we were ready for the future!
When?
Hopefully next year – see you soon Scotland!
