4 storage solutions to improve your home

Keeping your home organised and tidy can be a super tedious task. However, innovative storage solutions can significantly improve the look of any clutter and then the feel of your home. I know, when my home is tidier I definitely feel calmer. The key is to adapt your storage solutions around your lifestyle and make it practical for you. There’s no point having tonnes of storage crates if your most used things are kept at the bottom, right?

According to a survey of 2,000 UK participants conducted by Hammonds, a whopping 39% of people will reconsider a house purchase if it is messy and dirty. Freshly painted walls and decluttered surfaces can make a world of difference to any property. I know that I definitely thought differently about some houses I’ve viewed in the past due to how they were left.

Make your home stress-free and organised with these simple tricks. Get your organisation on and feel like your ARE the Home Edit gals.

1. Fitted wardrobes and under-bed storage

When it comes to the bedroom, it’s all about hidden storage. Keep everything tucked away in fitted wardrobes to create an organised, clean space. White or mirrored cabinets can also help to draw light into the room and maximise its potential. Genius! We’ve just moved our wardrobes into an alcove in our bedroom and they look super neat, it’s just time to organise inside them now.

2. Built-in bookshelves

Built-in bookshelves can be used to store little decorations, vases and, of course, your books. You can alphabetise your novels, or for neatness organise them by height. Or, why not try the backwards book trend or the rainbow spines?

For small apartments, consider a headboard with a built-in bookcase and adjustable shelves. Multifunctional furniture can significantly improve your storage opportunities and adds a little bit of character to any home. Besides, it will be super convenient when you need a book to read before bed.

3. Aesthetic storage boxes

Sometimes built-in storage isn’t an option, and you need to invest in pretty storage boxes instead. Use affordable boxes to hide away cleaning supplies, household items and spare linens. Consider storing them on a built-in shelving unit to keep them out of your way and labelling them so you know whats in them, you can get some great svg files on sites such as DesignBundles to help personalise the look of your storage solutions. Vertical storage is also great for adding different heights to a room.

4. Hallway storage

Hallways tend to be where ‘stuff’ gets dumped as soon as you walk in the door. Minimise the chance of this through coat hooks, shoe cabinets and a key tray. Invest in pretty hooks to add a bit of decoration to your hallway and make the storage multifunctional

It’s always good to have a box on a side table in the hallway as well. If you are going to dump things, make sure they are organised and out of the way. You could also use a key cabinet with smaller hooks inside to hang your keys and face mask by the door. That way, you will never lose them!
