March Payday Money Diary

Coming at you with another post-payday money diary.

Monday – Payday £14.99

Organise my spending and saving as usual, I’m saving some money to pay into my Lifetime ISA after the next tax year starts. I re-shared my budget tracker if anyone is interested in planning their budgeting and spending!

I spend £14.99 on postage labels from a couple of eBay sales – this new eBay thing where you don’t get the money before you buy postage labels is v annoying – I sold four things, some leggings and a bag amongst them. This isn’t really a spend as the money comes in from eBay covering this in a few days so I don’t think I’ll count it!

Payment goes out for our Asda shop that’s arriving Wednesday – £58.64 from our ‘house account’ we both pay into.

Tuesday – £2.76

Post Office trip for the old eBay sales, head to the shop on the way home for milk and crisps as a little top up before our Asda shop arrives tomorrow – £1.97

The classic iCloud storage I always forget about comes out, I don’t even know if I need this with the phone I have now? (Future me – I’ve just checked and I definitely need this ha!)

Wednesday£3.99

Payment of £3.99 for my Quickbooks subscription to help me with my self-assessment tax return pops out of the account. This is so worth it for me to sort my incoming and expenses for blog/Instagram/freelance income, should make my self-assessment much easier to complete, and it’s technically an expense so can come off the profits at the end of the day.

Asda shop comes at lunch time – love a food shop day because I always give the fridge a good clean down too and it’s one job checked off the list for the cleaning! Check out my meal planning tips Reels for some ideas on how I sort my weekly meal plan and food shop.

Thursday – £10

H&M sale gets me in a moment of distraction and I spend £10 on a springy yellow cardi which is super cute. I literally *have* to wear knitwear when I WFH because I get super chilly and I thought it would be really cute with pale denim and white tees over the summer too for chillier evenings and ya know, when it snows in April. Sale and also free delivery with the H&M Club thingy which is actually great.

Friday – £5
£5 Beautypie. Yep, I said I was going to cancel this in last month’s diary lol but I have actually done it now, since spending the last £5 I’ve used up all of my spending allowance and bought my last cleanser plus a couple of other skincare bits and a new blusher because you should SEE the state of my current Bobbi Brown number – hit pan is not even the phrase. I didn’t buy this Beautypie mini haul during this week I’m tracking the spending and documenting but since this week!) and I’ve actually now cancelled the subscription. I think I was feeling a bit trapped into the eco-system which is obviously how they get you and I feel a bit free now I’m out! I do like the products but I wasn’t trying other brands so now I can and if I miss it, I’ll just sign up again! What do you think of Beautypie?

Some gifted Mejuri earrings arrived in the post for an Instagram gifted campaign that actually went live this morning, which is exciting, they’re beautiful and I love them.

Saturday£4.66

We take a wander to a nearby farm shop in a little village 25 minutes walk from our house and spend just £4.66 on a little cake, some broccoli and a giant potato and some chilli jam which was the majority of the spend at about £2.75 but we just love chilli jam – king of condiments.

Receive some brownies from my mum in the post which are delicious and we make them last us four days having half each per night they were so nice and I’m very proud of the will power!

Sunday£114

This morning we take a trip to our closest local town for some essentials. B&M – we spend £38 – is the best place ever and I won’t hear otherwise. We get snacks for us like Biscoff spread and chocolate, I buy a photo frame for my Dad’s birthday gift I’m doing for him, we get a new non-stick frying pan which is essential as ours is on it’s last legs and some summer bits for Frankie including a little cooling vest and a cooling bowl that you freeze to keep their water colder for longer in the summer. As we had a little heatwave coming up, these were so handy.

Wilko – £10 – Deodorant and other boring stuff like shower puffs and a couple of storage boxes for the office.

Greggs – I buy a doughnut but I have a freebie on my app from my birthday. Free baked goods are the best baked goods, right? We chill in bed for the rest of the morning until lunchtime ish just watching crappy telly and drinking tea and eating doughnuts etc whilst I do my makeup. L jetwashes the patio and astro turf and I spend the afternoon (well about an hour) taking my Instagram content for the Mejuri campaign and also some Reels content as I wanted to do a bit of style stuff on my feed too.

An Instagram ad for La Redoute’s sale gets me and these amazing sheets but I justify it as the last bit from our bedroom makeover and also I’m pretty sure I haven’t bought new sheets in a couple of years. £38 (shared so £19 for my half). I also get served (what are the sponsored ads DOING to me) a leopard print Fy patio doormat which is the exact size I’ve been hunting for for months for our patio doors in the dining room so I decide to grab it – it’s £28 (£14 for my half).

So, Sunday escalated quickly with mostly things for the house! I’ve only actually spent £21.75 on myself this week and then spent a good chunk on our shared house card, food shop etc but also B&M and Wilko bits that we needed but an extra £66 on decoration-related items which aren’t every week for sure. This is definitely a good example of a spending week, I’d much rather spend on the house at the moment than on clothes etc for myself. How’s your spending been towards the end of lockdown?
