Today’s post is all about me totally fan-girling over Alexa Chung and her incredible style (she needs to save some cool for the rest of us, it’s kinda unfair) and obsessing over her favourite (& now one of my most coveted) designers – Shrimps. Designer, Hannah Weilend debuted Shrimps at London Fashion Week just gone and with huge fans like Alexa, Susie Bubble and Helena Bonham Carter the hype was ON!
I’ve been interested in these Press-On Manicure nails for a while, as they’re already painted and super easy to apply. Check them out at Boots here. The ‘Rock It’ colour way I’ve linked are a simple French manicure. The ones I’ve reviewed are a shiny nude and a dark purple. I tried out the nude colour and I didn’t really like them, the colour was a bit flat for a start. I also wasn’t really impressed with the application as the backing strips were really difficult to pull off (especially if you’ve done one hand and you’ve got false nails trying to grab onto something!). I might use the dark ones if I’m having a nail emergency and need a super quick fix as they were quite speedy to apply once you get over pulling off the backing. Another good thing was the fact that they were thin and didn’t look as chunky as normal false nails.
I love this time of year when all of the seasonal make-up collections start to come out and everyone gets excited for those big festive parties! Today, I have the beautiful new Clarins eye shadow palette to share with you guys. All of these shadows are made from minerals and are totally free of nasty-ness, meaning they’re suitable for sensitive skin and eyes.
Christmas is creeping up and it’s time to get saving to treat the one you love. Aww! This is a luxury gift guide, with two stocking fillers thrown in. The most expensive item in this gift guide is the Oris BC3 Advanced Day Date from Market Cross Oris Watches. I think it’s a stunning piece and obviously a huge investment but it’s so pretty. Maybe one day I’ll be able to buy this kind of watch for Luke! Something a little bit more down to earth (but only just!) is the brown leather Vivienne Westwood Backpack, it is dreamy! Further down the affordable line is the Whistles Printed Sweatshirt which I love. The camo print is really cool but it’s a little different because of the colour way. Two lovely little stocking fillers are the Tartan Scarf which is available from ASOS for under £20! I also love these cheeky Pug Socks from Topman! What do you think?
Today’s post is all about some online gems that I love to scour when I’m after vintage and retro pieces or just to pass the time! I hope you like them. First up is We Are Cow – this is an amazing vintage & retro shop and online store. I’m lucky enough to have one on my doorstep in Nottingham but they also have stores in Manchester, Birmingham & Sheffield. Luke and I often pop in for a browse when we’re in town, it’s such a cool shop. I’ve picked three of my favourite pieces that they’ve had new in online recently to share with you guys. I love this blue denim midi skirt, this digital print boxy dress and this polka dot jumpsuit.
It’s about to hit November and people will soon begin to lose their minds over the excitement and stress of Christmas! It’s true, it happens to the best of us, I’ve just been reminded that it’s only 58 days until the big day, how did this happen!? I don’t even have a single clue what I want for Christmas right now, let alone what I’m going to buy for anyone else! But to give a little helping hand to those awesome people who are on the ball and already Christmas shopping (you’re amazing!) I’ve picked out my top 5 pieces for thoughtful Christmas gifts from Gift & Wrap‘s Pandora range. (I also like all of these pieces, FYI any one who’d LOVE to buy me a pretty Christmas present!)
I’m sure you’ve all read my scathing review of the new Low n Slow Smokehouse in Nottingham – Jim’s Smokehouse. If not, you can read it here! Anyway, it was completely truthful and I meant every word because it was truly awful and I didn’t have a nice time. But, I appreciated that it was a very busy night for them and they were probably overwhelmed by the whole ordeal BUT that is no excuse for poor quality meat and bad cooking.
ASOS are cracking out another lovely little sale and of course I’m straight on it and on the hunt for some bargains! I’ve picked out six of my favourite dresses from the sale that would be great for everyday work wear and a few that could be easily dressed up and taken out for after work drinks!
When we saw an ad on Facebook for a ‘Free BBQ Opening Night’ at Jim’s Smokehouse, a new southern American BBQ restaurant it looked like a good destination for a cheeky after work dinner! I mean, who doesn’t love a) a free dinner and b) Texas BBQ food. We’re talking beef brisket, burgers, ribs and chicken. Jim’s Smokehouse has recently opened in the Lace Market area of Nottingham and is described as a Texas Smokehouse in which everything is cooked Low ‘n’ Slow.
Another beauty review coming at you today. I’ve been on a bit of a beauty rampage, trying to find those holy grail products and whittle down my make-up bag (eventually!) Today, I’m talking about the Liz Earle Perfect Fix Concealer! This is a push up concealer and it’s really creamy in consistency, is quite pigmented (I think I might have bought the shade too dark for my skin, especially in the winter season) and has pretty good staying power! It’s around £13.50 which is slightly cheaper than say, a MAC concealer but of course it’s more expensive than your average ‘drug-store’ concealer.
