Another interiors post today. I’m becoming really obsessed with prints, posters and frame walls! See below two of my favourites from my Interiors Pinterest board. I’m aiming to get a mix of the two for in both our dining room where we’ve started a frame wall and bedroom where we have two Ikea picture rails that need filling up! I recently bought a really cool train ticket print from Not On The High Street and I’ve got my eye on this Morrissey Print from Lost Lanes too. I’m always looking for really cool sites that sell wall art, posters and prints so definitely give me a heads up if you or anywhere you know sell them!
Today’s post is coming at you scheduled in as I’m currently in sunny Portugal with my boyfriend and the in-laws, hopefully having an amazing time. The only issues I had with going on holiday were, a) I’m terrible at packing and b) I’m terrible at outfit planning and you kind of need to be able to do both to go on holiday when you’re trying to pack light! We do that penny saving thing of only taking hand-luggage which is an awesome idea and it also makes you take less stuff and really think through what you’re going to wear. Hopefully I’ll have a holiday style diary to share with you guys next week when I’m back because I have meticulously planned my evening outfits!
Wedding planning is one of those things that all girls dream about for years and years and I’ve been a keen Pinterest-er for a while now, just collection images that I like, inspiration and other bits and bobs just to keep in stock for when that day happens. Sceptics think it’s being premature and it’s a bit weird! But I think it’s totally OK to just grab photos and keep them all together for when that day comes. You need to be able to visualise what you like and what’s available to you! So, that’s why I’ve put together a tiny post about three of the best websites (who all have apps!) that are great for wedding planning and I hope someone finds them useful!
The newest addition to my ever-growing nail varnish stash is Yuna from Zoya’s new A/W Ignite Collection. It’s a beautiful warm grey with subtle copper and gold glitter running through it. It also has a slight green tinge to it in some lights. I’ve applied it with a gel-like Kiss top coat on top and then a slick of Seche Vite to give it a tiny bit more staying power.
This week I had the amazing opportunity to attend the opening of Urban Outfitters in Leicester’s Highcross shopping centre. When I visited the Nottingham opening a few months ago, it was really fun. Urban Outfitters always put on great events and this one was no different! There were muffins, for a start and we were able to take home a piece from the collection and get 30% off anything else that we bought on the day. I chose this lovely Pins & Needles Tartan Shirt and some black rip-knee Cheap Monday jeans.
The ‘Queen of Prints’ Orla Kiely is on for her second collaboration with classic British footwear brand and one of my personal favourites – Clarks. This capsule collection of six shoe styles for the Autumn Winter season is synonymous of the 60s and 70s, fueled by colour and chunky style and the attention to detail is absolutely amazing. The collection was previewed at London Fashion Week in February ’14 and is perfect for the vintage/retro lover going into the colder months. Here’s a snapshot of the whole capsule collection, all of the styles come in at least two different colour-ways.
All hail my new favourite mascara! Now, this was a risk as I haven’t tried any MAC mascaras before, I’ve just previously stuck with my ol’ faithful Warm Soul blush and the occasional lipstick. I’ve always been a high-street mascara gal, with some of my favourites usually priced around the £6 mark! I was a huge fan of the L’Oreal Volume Millions but I have serious FOMO with mascara, I always want to see if there’s something better so I rarely go back to the same one!
Over the Bank Holiday weekend we tackled the next room of our house, decorating wise, our bedroom. Here are a few before photos, showing our room, warts and all with the grubby green colour. I think green is definitely now my least favourite colour after sleeping in this monstrosity for a few months. Right now, I never want to see another tin of paint again but there’s still more to do until we’re perfect!
Faith in Nature aren’t a brand that I had heard of before but when they contacted me asking whether I’d like to try out some of their exotic sounding shampoo and conditioners I thought why not! This one really caught my eye as I absolutely love pineapple, mango and lime as flavours and smells. So, what do I think? The scent is lovely and it leaves my hair feeling really clean, which of course is a massive plus with shampoo! The conditioner I think is a little too runny for my liking, I prefer my conditioners to be really thick and mask-like but this was the only slight negative that I had with the product. Otherwise, I love it and it’s a welcome addition to my shower! As a plus, all of their products are organic so we can be sure that there aren’t any nasties going into our hair. I really fancy the look of the Grapefruit & Orange shampoo too!
New in for my skincare regime is something I’ve been wanting to try for a while since I’ve had a couple of little samples knocking about. Bioderma is a brand that we all know and love for the classic micellar water, which is of course, a cult beauty staple! I’ve wanted to try a replacement for my La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo and see if this one fairs on the same sort of level. I love products like this that control the oil and repair the scars at the same time. This Bioderma one is said to reveal radiant skin, so I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
