I like to think I’m somewhere in the middle when it comes to being high maintenance about my appearance. I definitely care, I wear makeup pretty much everyday and I spent money on getting my brows, hair and nails done. But, I feel like I’m fairly relaxed because I don’t spend hours and hours on it and I don’t want to look like I’ve just walked off Love Island. Basically, I unashamedly love beauty and I find it really fun to experiment with makeup and beauty trends. Here are my four rules for getting perfect lashes and brows because sometimes that’s all that makes you happy sometimes and that’s OK.
I rarely purchase new makeup these days because I’m trying to use up everything I’ve already got but I have picked up some new bits over the past couple of weeks that I’m really enjoying so I wanted to share some of these gems with y’all.
We ran into some lovely Benefit samples at work and I went home with the Benefit GoGo Tint and the Benefit They’re Real Duo Shadow Blender which was a lovely surprise. Let’s start with the eyeshadow. The weird little applicator is impossible to use so let’s just forget about that. It’s tiny and you can not keep hold of it unless you have a pincer grip. But, the product itself, being the eyeshadow is a beautiful rich taupe-y brown shade and I’ve been using it almost everyday because it’s lovely and matte. The shimmery shade is also a great highlight colour and the formula of both is buttery and smooth and really long lasting.
Skincare and beauty are big loves of mine. I’ve always loved makeup and trying new products so innovative releases are super exciting to me. I’ve got 5 new releases to chat to you about today, all of which I’ve been trialling for about 2 weeks to give a good idea of what I think. Let’s get straight down to it!
I always love trying out new skincare and although the majority of this range isn’t new to me and to the market but there are a few new products that have been added to the range. The range in question is the Tea Tree & Witch Hazel from Boots, with some of the products having added Active Charcoal too. I’ve been giving these a go over the past week or so as my skin’s been feeling quite oily. My skin can never make it’s mind up in the winter, it’s dry one minute and super oily the next so it needs a bit of balancing out.
Adding technology into your skincare routine has definitely become seriously popular over the past few years. I mean, I saw a Face Gym when I was walking down the Kings Road in Chelsea when we last went to London. WTF is a Face Gym? Answers on a postcard plz!
What really are the benefits of all these gadgets and gizmos when it comes to skincare? Today I’m talking cleansing with my favourite new toy, the Magnitone Cleansing Brush. I’m comparing it throughout this post to the Foreo Luna because I’ve previously also owned this device.
Hey Christmas vouchers, presents to exchange and mon-aaay! It’s Boxing Day, it’s time to spend that dollar and get some stuff you actually want. Let’s talk beauty bargains.
First up an absolute steal of three of Benefit’s amazing tinted lip balms, Posiebalm mini, Benebalm mini and Chachabalm mini in a super cute Benefit Lip Hydrator Trio for only £11.30! Next in line is this beautiful little Clarins 5 Minute Kit With BB Cream in Shade 02 which is £13.33 on Boots at the moment. You have the fab BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF25 in 02 Medium 15ml which I featured in this post (plot spoiler, I love it), there’s also the amazing Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector 01 Rose Shimmer which is an awesome lip balm/gloss, the Be Long Mascara and a super cute tiny Blush Prodige 02 Soft Peach which is the perfect handbag size. Finally in the makeup stakes is the Smashbox Glosses To Go Light It Up Lip Gloss Set, also £13 from Boots and includes five shades; Bare Light, Orange Light, Fuchsia Light, Lilac Light and Ruby Light.
It’s not often that I write favourites posts but every few months I find a few things that I find myself really liking and it’s always good to mix up the content on here! Here are 6 (mostly skincare and beauty but with a fashion fave) products that have been giving me life in December!
1. Time For Tea?
October equals autumn and autumn equals new beauty essentials as far as I’m concerned. These are my five fresh autumnal products that have crept their way into my routine for this month. Spoiler alert, I already love quite a few of these so I might just re-use this as my October favourites but don’t tell my blog schedule…
I’ve been using this Hylamide Booster Sensitive Skin Fix Serum for a while now and it’s been a really nice addition to my evening skincare routine when I want to also use a moisturiser. I mix between this, usually paired with the Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep night cream and also using the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate on its own as my post-cleanse moisture shot!
I love the names of all the Soap & Glory products, they’re always so imaginative and funny – they always draw me in! Recently, when Boots were running on of their 3 for 2 offers I picked up some S&G makeup products to try.
My usual foundation was running low so I needed a replacement. I usually like to try high-end bases and was going to get either the Charlotte Tilbury Magic or Dior’s Forever foundations but I wasn’t 100% sure which one to go for. I didn’t want to drop £30 on a foundation I wasn’t sure about so decided to try the One Heck of A Blot All-Day Foundation from Soap & Glory. So far, I’m quite impressed, it has good staying power and turns into powder from a liquid, which is really cool. I don’t think the shade range is very good, though, there’s only four and I chose Happy Medium and it’s a bit too orange but the lighter shade was definitely too light. When used with the One Heck of A Blot Instant Perfecting Power Primer they provide a long lasting base but the foundation definitely needs building up, the coverage isn’t at all what I was expecting. It’s really light so I needed at least two thin applications and concealer to achieve the coverage I wanted.
