Christmas is definitely coming to my house… We’re whipping up the actual Christmas dinner this year (eek!) and I’ve wanted to make the house feel really Christmassy and the table super glam and festive without being a Christmas cliche. Enter, Next and their amazing circular pom pom trimmed placemats. They look awesome against a bit of kitsch tinsel and some snazzy matching beer bottles with some stand out branding. Yellow is definitely a fresh colour to give to Christmas, I think it’s quite unusual but works really well with gold which is obviously a classic.
On a rare sunny Sunday I shot a few snaps with some new buys and I thought that this is typical British summer. It was about 19-ish degrees and sunny at random intervals. When I think British summer, this is it. Not those freak heatwaves we have for about a week and then it rains for two. This is British summer and how to style it can be tricky!
My buddies over at Victoria Retail Park, you know, basically my favourite place to shop for homeware have been in touch with some awesome picks for S/S17 homeware trends! You’ll know I love tropical interiors from my last post all about interior design and I love all of the shops at Victoria Retail Park, I did a mini home haul when we moved into the flat we’re in now. You can check that out here if you fancy. Check out these amazing pieces from some of the 14 retailers that stock lifestyle and homeware. Victoria Retail Park is open 7 days a week, with most stores open until 8pm, which is great for after work shopping.
Suede and tassels are huge right now, peek into any high street shop or surf ASOS for a couple of hours (I definitely fall into an ASOS vortex at least once a week!) and you’ll find page after page of tasselled bags, boots, jackets and so much more suede than you could ever imagine. I love both of these trends but it’s tricky to wear them without falling into the classic Western trap. I love this look and I’ve definitely been rocking suede and tassels with denim this season but I wanted to mix things up with my new bag from hot new brand Love My Soul.
Just like the boyfriend jeans, pool slides were one trend that I wasn’t 100% sure about. I still feel that loads of them look quite ugly and I really don’t get the Nike & Adidas rubber ones worn by women, they just don’t look good to me, but that’s my opinion! Then again, whilst on the lookout for some new summer sandals, I came across these little babies from Next, for £25, real leather, metallic and a more feminine version of the pool slides that every fashion blogger on the scene has been sporting! I really like these as they’re leather, not black and rubbery and they have a strap at the back to help keep them on! I’m rubbish at backless sandals, unless they’re flip-flops because my feet just won’t seem to grip onto them!
