As if it’s September? It’s basically autumn and summer is well and truly behind us. Well, I hope the weather realises so anyway because I always get so confused this time of year about what to wear. The day will start out freezing and you’ll be sweating by lunchtime. Nightmare. Anyway, seeing as it’s a whole new month I thought I’d share some items I’m lusting over for the new season.
I often get asked where I’d recommend to go for hair, nails, brows etc and as much as I like to try new places and new treatments, I always go back to my favourites and the ladies that I trust. Grab a cuppa and settle down for a little ramble about my favourite beauty locations in and around Nottingham!
I rarely purchase new makeup these days because I’m trying to use up everything I’ve already got but I have picked up some new bits over the past couple of weeks that I’m really enjoying so I wanted to share some of these gems with y’all.
We ran into some lovely Benefit samples at work and I went home with the Benefit GoGo Tint and the Benefit They’re Real Duo Shadow Blender which was a lovely surprise. Let’s start with the eyeshadow. The weird little applicator is impossible to use so let’s just forget about that. It’s tiny and you can not keep hold of it unless you have a pincer grip. But, the product itself, being the eyeshadow is a beautiful rich taupe-y brown shade and I’ve been using it almost everyday because it’s lovely and matte. The shimmery shade is also a great highlight colour and the formula of both is buttery and smooth and really long lasting.
Microdermabrasion sounds so scary. Like sandpapering your face, right? Well, that’s what I thought until I was invited to try the Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion treatment at Alexsa Beauty in Mansfield.
What is it?
This facial is a ‘resuracing treatment’ that gets to work on problem skin, pigmentation, lines, wrinkles and acne scarring. Basically, it’s meant to leave your skin rejuvenated, soft and refreshed!
Well, I say summer. I’m not quite sure where the sunshine has gone but these products have *technically* been released in the summer so we’re going to have to use our imagination here. To be fair, none of them are specifically summer related but they are NEW! So, let’s get into it.
Eesh. I know. 99% of the time breakouts are the devil. They’re the one thing that you do NOT want to happen. But, recently, I’ve come to a little realisation that sometimes they can be a good thing. Breakouts are basically a clear out of all the junk under your skin which is gross, but it can leave you with the glowiest of glowing skin when everything’s cleared up.
Holiday season is well and truly here and everyone’s heading away to catch some rays! I’m off to Crete soon and I can’t wait for some relaxation, feta cheese and seriously pretty sunsets. The only thing that can be a little tricky in our vacay situations is trying to fit everything you own into a teeny, tiny suitcase!
Summer is coming! Well, hopefully, if this rain ever goes away. Summer equals tanning, bronzed skin and some sunshine to go along with holidays and getting your legs out. For me this is anyway!
1. Be gradual
Whether it’s in-shower or over night, gradual tans are the best way to get the glow without the shock! I find that traditional fake tan is too much of a colour change the next day and everyone’s all “You look different.”. But, with a gradual, no one really notices as much. I’m so stealth. I also love to add a little gradual tanner to my face moisturiser every few nights in the summer. Bronzer is also a staple for my summertime makeup, kabuki brushes are perfect for creating the perfect contoured ‘3’ around your face.
It seems to be cold and grey and gross in the UK for so long that when the spring time rolls around and we actually get some sunshine we all freak out and think it’s summer (put those shorts away guys, it’s not warm!). But, it’s still kinda chilly but there are definitely some changes happening with the weather. My skin and hair always go a bit weird when the weather changes, does yours?
Last weekend we headed down to Hoar Cross Hall for a facial and a day of chilling out. We’re always busy and it was really exciting to be able to chill for most of the day. I’m not a massive ‘spa day’ person but I really enjoyed this trip. The whole walking around in a robe with strangers is kind of weird to me but you just have to go with it I think!
