Christmas to me isn’t about red, green and gold. I’m not a fan of the traditional colours and decorations as you can probably tell from the pink pom pom baubles gracing my tree this year. I like to mix things up a bit and I’m not the greatest fan of red so I even avoid that when it comes to wrapping paper. I thought I’d share a few fun and different ideas for Christmas decoration and wrapping that you could try this year.
Minimal trees are something that I think are really awesome, I’ve not been convincing enough to get one in our house but I’ve been scouring Pinterest for loads of inspiration. These branches on the wall in the shape of a tree is so effective and pretty and a really good idea if you don’t have a lot of space. I also really like the minimalist branches effect which is really Scandi-cool.
Using tinsel instead of those classic sticky on bows looks so cool, I wish I’d decided on this before I started wrapping gifts this year!
I was also watching Kirsty’s Homemade Christmas the other night and they were creating alternative advent calendars. My favourite was 25 balloons filled with sparkles and chocolates ready to be popped everyday. Maybe a bit of a messy one but so cute for kids to do.
Finally, these super cool bottled lights are under a tenner each and look really effective. They’re rechargeable and great for using outside so you could light up your garden path with them to invite guests over for festive celebrations. They’re available from lightingstyles.co.uk.
