Revolution Cornerhouse Bottomless Brunch Review

Revolution at Cornerhouse in Nottingham kindly invited us for a gifted brunch to try their new Bottomless Brunch menu and see what we thought.

Location
Being super central to Victoria Centre and most of the bus and tram stops this Revolution is in a great spot. Plus, you’re close to other bars like Secret Garden which is perfect in the summer, Copper, Ginsecco and Alto if you want to continue the party.

Inside, this Revolution is quite nice and airy and the booths are nice plus they have some really big square tables that would sit 8-10 people for a large brunch. The decor and interiors around the bar area are nice too as they’ve been quite recently redone but the soft furnishings like cushions and leather seats have definitely seen better days – they’re covered in stains from people spilling drinks which is understandable for a Revs, it’s definitely a party location.

Food

The menu is quite big and has classic brunch dishes like avocado toast, a full English style grill up, pancakes with berries and Nutella and then some non-traditional brunch meals like pepperoni or margherita and pizza, fried chicken and bacon waffles. There’s also the option upgrade meals for £2.50 to bigger dishes like a bacon & cheese beef burger and fries, Mexican plant-based burger and fries and two different chicken burgers. There’s additional sides such as parmesan fries too but I think these are priced on top of your brunch.

Our service was a little long, taking about 40-45 minutes to get our food. We ordered the avocado brunch and the brunch grill (the full English type dish). My smashed avocado on toasted sourdough was nice but I think one piece of sourdough bread, avocado, tomato and adding a poached egg for £1 isn’t very good value. The dish was really small for the money you’re paying so I think it would be worth it to upgrade and get a burger and fries or at least get a pizza as it’ll be more filling.

My poached egg was really overdone and not runny at all and Luke’s brunch grill had overdone bacon too and unmelted garlic butter on the mushrooms. Overall they were both about a 6/10 but I think there would be better dishes to pick and it wouldn’t put me off this brunch again, I’d just lower my expectations of the food, order something bigger and more filling and just go for the drinks and the party!

Drinks

As well as prosecco and orange juice there were a load of other drinks on the menu which was fab, from beers and Aperol Spritz (my favourite) to a Blank Canvas which is a sugar syrup, vodka and soda cocktail with a flavoured syrup of your choice like berry or bubblegum added to it!

There was also Heineken 0% and lots of soft drinks too so tonnes of choice for a Bottomless Brunch. I liked this as sometimes my gripe with brunches is that it’s purely prosecco and sometimes it’s nice to change it up. Although, saying that, we tried a Bloody Mary for the first time because neither of us had and it definitely wasn’t to our tastes! I’d definitely have Aperol Spritz or a Blank Canvas if I tried this brunch again.

Price

The cost of this Bottomless Brunch varies depending on the time that you book for. Per person, it costs £20 for 11am and 12pm, £25 for 1pm and 2pm and £30 for 3pm and 4pm. There’s also the additional food costs if you upgrade or get sides to consider but all in all, this is super good value for a Bottomless Brunch in my opinion. You can pay up to £40 per person for the same amount of drinks for other brunches in Nottingham.

Overall

Overall the service was great, our server was super polite and helpful and I’ve been to Revolution before when the same person has served us and it was exactly the same so I know it wasn’t just put on for the review. The brunch is bookable every Saturday and Sunday pretty much all day and there’s tonnes of space and it’s great for big parties.

The food was not the star of the show but you don’t usually go to a Bottomless Brunch for a gourmet meal, it’s about the party feel so I would just choose differently with this menu and go for a bigger option. The drinks range is great and I think it’s really good value, especially the 11am & 12pm slots – these are definitely the times I’d want to be brunching anyway to be honest and it’s the best price. I wouldn’t mind at all paying another £2.50 to upgrade the food but they could consider making the avocado brunch and the brunch grill a bit more substantial and having all the options on the food menu as the same price. I’d visit again with a group for sure!
