Your lockdown guide to fun stuff

There are a million posts out there telling you how to have the best lockdown ever peppered with those all important ones telling you it’s OK not to be productive but this isn’t either of those. This is literally a bit of a diary of things that I’ve watched, done, baked, ate, bought and more over the past month.

I officially hit my month of working at home anniversary this week and it seems like it’s gone so ridiculously fast! I’m 100% used to it now and it’s not been as hard as I thought it would be to honest. I have good days and bad days of course but I think it’s the fact that I’m still working every week day that’s kept me busy and therefore sane. It’s so weird and I think surreal still but it’s definitely more normal than I thought it would potentially be!

Here’s some of the fun stuff I’ve been doing amongst the constant cleaning and organising (which to me, I won’t lie is pretty fun!). I’m wearing all loungewear from Femme Luxe in this post which has been kindly gifted and I’m absolutely buzzing that I now have three more cute but comfortable as hell outfits to work from home and chill in.

Watching movies

Amongst starting the story-order of the Marvel movies we have watched some really great films recently and I’m definitely now partial to a Saturday daytime film now. I think Iron Man is my fave Marvel dude, I’ll just put it out there. Some of the best ones we’ve watched recently are:

Moneyball (2011) – A baseball drama which sounds weird but is bloody great. This is a biographical dramatisation of a retired baseball player Billy Beane who drafts in a university graduate with an avant garde way of sourcing and playing his team which he believes should make them win. Again, sounds odd but is a really good watch.

Yesterday (2019) – Average singer songwriter gets hit by a bus and wakes up minus two teeth and into a world where noone has heard of The Beatles. He starts playing their songs and becomes a huge star with trials, tribulations and guilt along the way. Also has a lot of Ed Sheeran in it which is quite funny.

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) – Another music based movie that I loved. I actually love a good biopic about a band. Obviously all about Queen and Freddie Mercury mainly but it’s fantastic and gives you such a new found respect for their music if you weren’t really a fan before like myself.

Hot Fuzz (2007) – “No luck catching them swans then?” Just a bloody great film and we hadn’t watched it in ages so popped it on the other night and bloody loved it.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999) – A teen movie delight based on The Taming of The Shrew and it’s just amazing. Baby Joseph Gordon Levitt is just too cute and Julia Stiles is her classic self and Heath Ledger is just, well Heath Ledger being awesome.

Gaming

I tell you what I love a good Mario Kart party these days with a Zoom call thrown in.

Meal planning

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know I love a meal plan anyway but during lockdown it’s become a proper little activity. I love to cook and making sure I have something fun and delicious to cook at the end of the working day is definitely making me happy at the moment. We’re still on the Gousto box train and get one of these every 3-4 weeks and we’ve had some Hello Fresh boxes too which have been keeping things fresh. I still use the recipe cards from both of these boxes that we’ve been getting for years and I always enjoy the recipes which means I think they are good value for money.

Some of my favourite recipes from Gousto are:

We’ve also been loving making homemade burgers and not worrying too much about calories or anything whilst eating homecooked food we love but with loads of greens and salad and veggies thrown in!

Baking the perfect cookies

Check out Marmalade & Me’a cookies downloadable PDF and you won’t be disappointed, I promise you! I’ve been making a batch of these every weekend and divvying them out between family on cookie runs and freezing some of the dough too. They are amazing, we’ve tried the Triple Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Chunk and Chocolate Orange is on my list for the next ones!

Consuming series after series

Some of the series we’ve been watching have been awesome recently so, similar to the movies I’ll list some of my favourites!

Too Hot To Handle (Netflix) – Like Love Island on steroids but only 8 episodes of 40 minutes long and therefore much more manageable. Plus they win and lose their prize money which makes for fabulous watching.

The Nest (BBC) – Martin Compston and Sophie Rundle are bloody fantastic and this is a story like no other, we were gripped!

After Life (Netflix) – We’ve just started this back up as the second series launched on Netflix this week but it’s just incredible. So funny and gut-wrenchingly sad at the same time, the writing is amazing.

What I’m wearing in this post

As I said Femme Luxe kindly gifted me the following sets:

Grey Off Shoulder Loungewear Set – Blake

Stone Boxy Cropped Hoodie Cuffed Joggers Loungewear Set – Cailleigh

And I’m also loving the Black zip up hoodie & cuffed joggers which seem to currently be out of stock but there’s plenty more choice in their other sets in black if that’s your vibe. I’m looking forward to wearing these sets the next time I fly somewhere on holiday because there’s nothing better than cosy sweatpants on a plane. Check out the rest of the Femme Luxe loungewear range!
