As much as I’m a huge TV and film fan – and I am – watching telly has to be up there with my most loved activities, screen time started to take over a little bit when phones come into play too. Whilst taking an Instagram break where I actually deleted the app off my phone – I know, big news, I decided to focus on a little chilling out and tried to pick up a new skill and practice a bit of self-care by leaving screens behind.
LoveCrafts, an awesome little crafting community website with 3 million crafters kindly gifted me some materials for a perfect beginner chunky knitting project – this simply chunky scarf is what I’ve been creating. LoveCrafts kindly sent me two balls of super soft yarn and some chunky knitting needles which are really cool Knit Pro ones!
The LoveCrafts site is awesome for beginners like me, I’d only trialled knitting a few weekends before I started this project and I’m around half way through now, learning some valuable knitting lessons on the way. One being don’t knit too tightly – it’s so much harder for yourself and your project goes all wrinkly and tight – not a good look! Love Crafts have an awesome
beginner’s craft hub and a load of
free knitting patterns to inspire beginners like myself. I’m already planning some dream projects for the future such as this
Basket Weave Cardigan and this amazing
Boulevard Blanket for our new house. This
rainbow pattern is also perfect for the NHS support at the moment!
As well as knitting, a few of my other favourite screen-less activities are doing my own at-home mani-pedi with my gel manicure kit as this takes up to an hour and a half for both hands and feet and means I’m concentrating on something for a little while! I also love a bit of colouring in, reading (an actual book or magazine!), cooking, baking and sorting and tidying. Cleaning is also another great task that takes me a little while and means I can listen to my favourite podcasts and music whilst doing it!
