An end of pay-month and before payday diary this time around. We’re still in semi-lockdown at this point but we’re allowed to see people in their gardens which is lovely as the weather this week is crazy warm from Monday onwards. Let’s get to the spending…
Thursday
Get up, it’s raining (warm weather hasn’t kicked in yet!) but I still have a walk and listen to At Home With Lily & Anna, really glad they’re back doing a podcast! Grab a coffee when I’m back in bed and see an eBay seller for an item I’m watching has knocked a fiver off a dress and sent me an offer so I accept! £10 for a New Look black slip dress which is v similar to an All Saints one I’ve been drooling over which is in their sale for around £60. I like to buy cheaper versions of clothes if I’m not sure how often I’ll wear them and then if I know I’m wearing it a tonne even though it’s high street I’ll look for a higher end or better quality version.
Our Hello Fresh box arrives and it’s really soggy. I also realise a few days later that they’ve sent us approximately one out of five recipes correctly and we have loads of random food! Cue us getting a refund for this box later on in the week but this doesn’t count towards my spending as it’s ‘house’ money and shared. But still great to get a refund on the box as it’s really messed up our meal plan this week.
Still working from home, of course! At lunch time I’m in need of a bakery treat so head to Tesco for cookies 96p, tonic water 50p and mini cheddars £1. Our local Tesco is really big and I’m learning the times that it’s not too busy and doesn’t have queues to get in. £2.56
We opt for takeaway Chinese for dinner but it’s deliciously free because I’m doing an Instagram story job for the brand which I’m very grateful for and do a fun story all about whether you have chips with your Chinese takeaway – it’s always a yes for us! They’re just the best chips. We have two dishes, two rice, prawn crackers and sweet & sour chicken balls. It’s absolutely huge.

Friday
Some wedding bands arrive that I ordered last week so I pay off my credit card with £140 for one of them that I’m keeping. I’ve not spent too much this month so I have enough to cover this which is a bonus and means I don’t need to take anything out of my ‘Wedding’ savings pot that I have set aside.
Chinese again for dinner because there really is that much, we had a whole other bag of prawn crackers to get through and the rest of our rice and two dishes, beautiful!
-£140

Saturday
Actually get up and get properly dressed and makeup and an outfit today instead of random working from home clothes. Gold ring in the main image is gifted by Mejuri.
We pop to the supermarket (Lidl) for food shopping for lunches, breakfast bits and Father’s Day lunch spread treats and spend £33 and our local market stall for fruit, veg and some gigantic cobs (bread rolls if you’re not from Nottingham!) – £9.50. This is ‘house’ money again.
General chill day I like to do the housework and tidy up and sort bits and bobs out on a Saturday so I clean through after we’ve had some lunch and crack on with some eBay and Depop listings for some clothes and shoes we both don’t want and want to shift before we move house.
We spend the afternoon making soft pretzels and they are amazing! Eat about 6 before and after our dinner of the one Hello Fresh recipe that has arrived intact for the week – cajun prawn risotto.
End up buying some £12 never worn boots from Depop, I had some snakey-print boots a while ago and they were well worn out so I’ve been looking for some replacements for a while.

Sunday
Spent a sweet £0 today. Made a juicy £7.18 from eBay sales (after fees and postage costs paid for). As I said, we’re trying to gradually get rid of a lot of random stuff we don’t need or want and don’t want to move with. I have an obsession whenever we move not to move with anything we don’t need, want or love. Not much else eventful happened today apart from we put on a Father’s Day spread for L’s dad which was lovely!

Monday
Payday. Yas. Move everything around and do my savings. ‘Normal’ savings – £390 and LISA £250 and £90 into my easy to access wedding fund.
Almost immediately spend £32.99 on a set of Pro Blo ceramic blow-dry brushes. Couldn’t resist anymore and lockdown has made me grow my hair obviously so I’m loving a bit of a blow dry now it’s a bit longer. Give me all the volume.
Pop to see my friend after work in her garden and take her a pretzel fix!
Home, cook a half-hearted version of a Hello Fresh stir fry and then we book an AirBnB for L’s birthday as it’s rumoured BJ is going to open hotels, pubs etc soon so we don’t want to miss out as it’s the perfect size for all of us that want to go away. Fingers crossed it’s all fine in a few months. £798 but get the money back from our lovely friends super quickly and pay off my credit card it’s £133 per person, this is my share.
-£165.99
Tuesday
Try and haggle £32.50 refund for my wedding band that I’ve seen has gone into the sale reduced again, otherwise I’ll return and buy it again. I’m that person. They offered me a voucher but I pushed a little politely and asked if there was no way I could get a cash refund and they did “in this circumstance” so that’s a huge winner.
Sell some old designer glasses frames on eBay for £60 plus postage. End up with £58.77 after PayPal and delivery and eBay fees but good for just something lying around that I honestly haven’t worn in maybe over a year shockingly!
£0.79 iTunes storage for something I can’t remember what it is I pay for anymore (rounded up to £1) goes out. Walk to Superdrug and to post my eBay parcel at the local shop. Spend £4.25 (rounded up to £5) in Superdrug on shower puffs, deodorant and Diet Coke.
Realised a few days ago my license is expired. I could get away with it at the moment as there’s an extension because of Covid-19 but I’m not that person. Order it really quickly, was a lot easier than I thought! £14.
Pop to the park with our friends because we are about 12 and ask if they’re coming out. £2 for beers each. We head home about 7pm and can’t face the sad Hello Fresh disaster, I’m not feeling creative. £5.99 for Pizza Hut for us (split between us both £3 for my share) as we had ‘slices’ (like their loyalty points) to use so we got a free medium pizza and they had just £5 pizzas on offer as it’s a Tuesday! We also get dips, obviously.
Spenny today.

Wednesday
Lidl top up shop for more squash and cobs and bacon, the essentials. £3.54 but ‘house money’.
Too hot to remember what we did. Just work and watch telly. Not The Sinner because season 3 is awful, don’t @ me.
Amazon order but ‘house money’ again £26.65 for Teeth whitening gel, some clothes dye as Luke has some shorts and I have a jumpsuit we both want to dye black and some SPF moisturiser for Luke as I’m terrified he’s going to get skin cancer as he literally never wears SPF so I’m forcing him to wear a moisturiser with one in. The stats are scary, I won’t go into it!
On a brighter note. My amazing Depop boots from Sunday turn up and look super cute with my eBay bargain dress so can’t wait to wear that outfit.
Totals
House – £72.69
This is more than our weekly budget for food so we’ll just have to keep an eye on the budget. We never ‘run out’ of money in this account but we definitely top up shop and don’t spend exactly the same each week. Next week it could be literally £15 we spend and then it’s evened out over the month.
What I spent: £354.59
Ouch, a lot but does include my wedding ring and a stay away for two nights in the future. Without this only £81.59 which isn’t too bad but isn’t amazing when we’re in lockdown and I’m not even doing anything fun!
What I made in refunds and Depop/eBay: £98.45
+ a free Chinese for Instagram.
