AD | 4 Luxury Home Design Ideas With TuffX

This is an advertorial with TuffX – Manufacturers of Toughened Glass

Interiors and property are a huge interest of mine. Give me a TV show about property and I am there. From the basics like Homes Under The Hammer (the Mo Gilligan voiceovers especially) to your mid-range Location, Location, Location and straight through to the luxurious Million Dollar Beach House and Selling Sunsets – give me all of them!

Dreaming about house renovations and decorating is a daily occurance for me and I’ve been doing a little research into toughened glass and the things you can do with it. Obviously we’ve all seen the amazing wine cellars and glass floors in these incredible LA and Hamptons homes on Netflix but if it’s something you wanted to ad to your home – you could if it’s in your budget! This kind of home style is not limited to the coasts of America. Here are four ideas to dream about or save up for!

1. Glass Staircases & Balustrades

If we ever extend this house upwards or ever moved to anywhere with an exposed staircase such as this one or a staircase into the hallway with a bannister I would absolutely love a glass balustrade around it. I just think they look so modern and super chic and I’ve never been a huge fan of wooden bannisters personally.

2. Glass Floors

I mean, a girl can dream, right? Having a balcony with a glass floor that looks into another room below is just awesome. Super bouji but I mean if you’ve got the money (which we definitely haven’t *this* year) it just looks so cool. Especially beautiful in the summer with the sun streaming through but also practical in the darker months when there’s less light all round as it will let in as much of the light as it can during the day time. I hate being in a dark house so this would be a huge reason I would invest in glass flooring and also, the next point on this list!

3. Roof lights & Skylights

Let’s talk natural light. It’s just the best isn’t it? From moving to a house with a lot more windows and light than our previous one I’ve realised how much I love it. Our old house was a terrace and was very, very dark, especially if the sun wasn’t out or in the winter and it makes it feel smaller and it can feel a bit colder and dingy too. I just love sunlight streaming into the house and brightening things up.

Skylights would be fantastic in an attic or dormer extension going upwards or I would definitely put them in if I extended sideways on our house at the moment for the kitchen which is probably the darkest room at the moment as it only has one window and a frosted glass back door which looks onto another house and doesn’t let much light in either.

4. Wine Cellars

Another dreamy product and perfect if you’re renovating an old house with a cellar already or building from scratch and you can afford to dig down! I doubt I’d have as many bottles of wine as this picture but at least I’d have some in and wouldn’t have to nip out to the shop for a last minute Porta 6 craving.
