You guys know I love to dream about that George Clarke designed house with incredible architecture and breathtaking design. Today’s material of choice to dream about is concrete. Now, hear me out. Concrete is not an ugly material if the finish and design is done right and it can look so elegant and luxury. Here are three ideas to use concrete in a domestic setting for that Grand Designs-esque home.
1. Exteriors – Extensions, Walls & Driveways
How incredible do these exterior walls and drive aways look? I really love the imposing look, the colour and the smoothness of concrete. You can use concrete in so many different ways around the home, all you need to do is watch a little inspirational TV and check out Pinterest for some amazing ideas! You can have conservatory builds, driveways, garden landscaping, extensions, garages and so much more. To do this for your home, you’ll need a domestic concrete supplier of course which you can source yourself, such as Ridge Concrete or your builder may know of another reputable supplier.
A huge extension like this is obviously a big, big project but if you’re working on a forever home or you’ve won the lottery – why not?

2. Indoors – Floors
Another way to use concrete in your home include it in interiors and most popularly in flooring. I absolutely love a kitchen floor with a concrete finish they just look amazing. Look at these ideas from Pinterest below. But, just don’t drop a glass on it!
A great thing with concrete floors is the fact that they are super hard wearing, long lasting and really good value for money as concrete is actually quite a cheap material. But, it can be quite cold so also bear that in mind.
3. Indoors – Accessories and Furniture
The final way to use concrete in your home is in little manageable chunks which may be easier if you’re on a budget *like me* or you’re just wanting little touches during some decorating. The options are things like dining tables, shelves, shelf brackets and even little tables – how cute is that little drinks table in the third image? You could even try smaller things like plant pots, vases, even mugs for that concrete touch!

There are a few ways to have your concrete, there’s polished concrete that’s super shiny, a little bit slippy and looks so luxe. Or, you can leave it a little rougher and have a more industrial feel to the material. What do you think about using concrete in your home? Yay or nay? Let me know in the comments!
