Moving into a new house (a blog post in the making FYI) is a really exciting time and as well as the excitement of a new location and a bigger space comes the joy of decorating. We’re moving (hopefully – I don’t want to jinx it as the house buying process can be so turbulent!) into a new build so we have hardly any building work and renovations to do so it’s all about interior design.
My career journey – 25 years old
25. Nearly 26. Do I feel old? Not in my current job, I feel like one of the youngest (because I am) in the whole team but do I feel experienced? I actually do and that’s a great feeling. I thought I’d share my career journey so far because I loved reading Jess’s post here from a few months ago about her career journey since graduating and her journey to becoming a freelancer.
2017 Scandi Bedroom Inspiration
If there’s an area of the home where we can really let our imaginations run wild, it’s in the bedroom. Whilst kitchens require a touch of functionalism, and living rooms usually have a television or fireplace as their focal point, our bedrooms are our most privates places, and offer us a huge chance to try some interesting design schemes. Obviously, my favourite style is minimal and Scandi! A quick check on Pinterest reveals how I’m usually drawn towards a modern and contemporary feel that has enough quirkiness and individuality to embrace some more unconventional trends. (I love Liz’s home board! Check out mine here.)
Transitional Bedroom Wish List
I know we’re only in August but soon it’ll be September and then all of our lovely-ish weather goes to pot and it’s hot-water bottle temperatures again! This being said I’ve been having a think about new duvet covers and adding some warmth back into our interiors.
I’m all kinds of obsessed with Orla Kiely, always have been! I just love her prints so much. Usually her style of interiors doesn’t fit in with our bedroom aesthetic which is always super monochrome. She normally uses loads of colour but I discovered this Orla Kiely Grey Tiny Stem Duvet Cover Set and I was 100% sold.
5 Ways To Improve Your Sleep
Sleep is so important. When you don’t sleep properly you don’t function properly, well at least I know that I definitely don’t. I can’t concentrate, I feel lethargic and I can’t be bothered to do anything. Plus, I usually end up craving sugar and end up in a crash when I’ve caved and eaten a cookie or 4. Here are 5 ways to make sure you’re really getting the most out of your sleep and therefore the most out of your day!
Bedroom Decor: How To Incorporate Skulls
Skulls are probably one of my favourite things to incorporate into decor, from brightly coloured sugar skulls to your standard boney-faced guys. They can look really cool, rock n roll and dark and they don’t have to look like you’ve not left your 14-year-old goth stage. Skulls can look super luxe if you use them in the right way.
7 Top Money Saving Tips For A New Mattress
We spend a third of our lives in bed. So for the same reason, you need to have a quality mattress for your bed. Buying a mattress is a long time investment and most of the time it is expensive too! So take your time to select a mattress that you feel fits your budget.
1. Stop Looking For A Lower Price
Many of the shops claim that they will beat the lowest price that you will find somewhere else for the same product. Actually, the truth is that you probably won’t find it anywhere. Most of the furniture and mattress stores directly work with manufacturers and bring in different mattresses with unique names. So they end up having an exclusive range of products that too at flexible prices. This means you are not going to find two same products at different stores. So in case you like a product at the store, negotiate on its price. Try out a Dreams voucher code to see if you can get even more discount.
3 Ways to Create a Comforting Bedroom
Your bedroom should be the most comfortable room in your home, and yet so many people don’t know how to design it effectively. Updating your bedroom is something you should aspire to achieve semi-regularly. Keeping it fresh is the best way to making sure you keep falling in love with it over and over. But comfort should be your primary concern. Here are a few quick tips for achieving the ultimate bedroom comfort.
6 Chest of Drawers Perfect For Make Up Storage
After being inspired by Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup and Lily Pebbles on Youtube with their make up storage ideas I moved my teeny (in comparison to theirs!) make up and skincare collection to the top draw of my IKEA Malm chest of drawers.
I now have all my skincare, make up, nail varnishes and body care in one place as opposed to dotted around various places in our bedroom. I’m finding this a lot easier in the morning and things are so much tidier. With this in mind, here are 6 chests of drawers that are perfect for make up storage, whatever your budget and taste.
El Famoso Traditional Tattoo Prints
Following on my last post about Brixton, I picked these up after our amazing brunch at Wild Caper from a little shop in the market. I saw them in the window and just had to pick them up for our house. We’re both really into tattoos and the flat, traditional style so these prints really jumped out at me. I’ve put them in our bedroom – our frame wall is really taking shape now. If you love these as much as we do, you can grab them from East End Prints online. Check out Tat Girl & Russian Tat Man!
