London is a large and crowded city, and London event managers know what people want, especially at New Year: a good ambiance, plenty of drinks, and a memorable and happy start to what will hopefully be a much better year than the last two! Here are some of the most popular spots where you can get away from the daily grind to enjoy a spectacular New Year celebration!
Review: Hart Shoreditch Hotel
A hotel review? What is this, 2019? I know. Travels are back. Mini breaks are back. Hotel reviews are back and I’m so here for it. Recently we headed away for a trip for L’s birthday and as part of his gift I booked us a room at the Hart Shoreditch Hotel. We usually stay around Shoreditch area as we like the vibe, know our way around *roughly* and there were some restaurants that we wanted to try out in the local area.
London Food Diary: Spitalfields & Shoreditch
The food in London is always top of our list when we visit, grabbing things that we usually wouldn’t be able to, heading to some of our favourite restaurants and finding new gems. Here’s a few favourites we ate during our latest trip!
When we arrived we headed, we checked in at the beautiful Hart Shoreditch hotel and then headed straight out to Spitalfields Market to grab some snacks and a quick drink. We ended up at Humble Crumble devouring an apple crumble and custard topped with meringue pieces – this was delicious. Obviously the cost of things in London is something we always forget about until we get there so £6.50 for a ‘regular’ crumble is pricey but it was very tasty. We then popped and had a quick drink at The Gun, a pub just opposite the Benefit side of Spitalfields Market – they had Beavertown on tap which is always a win.
The Hoxton, Holborn Review
This weekend we stayed at The Hoxton in Holborn and it really was lovely so I wanted to do a little review because I was so impressed.
We paid for this trip, it wasn’t gifted in any way. I mentioned it was for my birthday on the booking section on Hotels.com and the team left us a small bottle of wine in the room with a note saying happy birthday which was so nice. They also had a lovely little map, magazines and nice guides of the area too to read through.
3 ways to plan the perfect London trip
I know how hard trip planning can be – although I know some people are so good at it and do enjoy it! I’m not the best at it, I have to say! When you’re looking to go on a little adventure, you’ll want to make sure that this process is as easy as it can be. When the location in question is London, you’ll find that you’ll want to make the most of your time in the British capital, and enjoy a comfortable stay too. So, here’s how you’ll do that…
Eating my way around Soho; Kaffeine, The Detox Kitchen and Crumbs & Doilies
This was going to be one of my ’24 hours in’ posts just like I’ve done with Leeds, Birmingham and London previously but we were actually only in Soho, London for about 5 hours so this is a little more compact but still jam-packed full of fun and delicious food. We didn’t have chance to stay in any hotels in Soho because we stayed the night before with our friends in beautiful Greenwich after a random but fun night at the O2 watching the Harlem Globetrotters!
24 hours in London
Work/life balance has been a bit crazy recently but it definitely has some really great perks. I’ve been having to travel to London a few times a week recently and luckily, one of these trips happened to fall on a Friday which was super close to one of my oldest friends’ birthdays so I stopped for the weekend and for her birthday brunch!
6 Of The UK’s Best Street Food Markets
With the announcement that Nottingham might be getting its own street food market (yaaaas!), I thought it’d be sweet to round up some of the best street food markets and pop-ups in the UK right now. It’s safe to say that we’re definitely very excited to be getting our very own street food market because it’s something that we feel Notts has been missing for a while. We get the occasional pop-up here and there but nothing as monumental as some of the other street food markets in the UK’s other cities like Manchester and London! Here’s the run-down of the best out there at the moment…
Where To Eat In Shoreditch: Barber & Parlour
Cutting to the chase, Barber & Parlour is an amazing place to get brunch and little lunch bites in the heart of Shoreditch. Just around the corner from Boxpark Pop Up, this amazing place is somewhere you can have your nails done and for guys to get a haircut and THEN eat some incredible food.
I’m not sure how often they change the menu but when I headed there at the weekend to catch up with some friends Luke & I really loved the food and the setting so I thought I had to share it with you guys.
Experiencing London With #MercureCitySwappers
I love a city break, if you follow my blogging or Instagram adventures, you’ll know this! I also like to think I’ve got *some* London knowledge and I’m not a typical tourist but there are still so many places that I haven’t experienced. So, when Mercure Hotels challenged me with a City Swap with the lovely Milly from Mini Adventures, I jumped at the chance to see what a real Londoner would recommend to me to do.
