We’ve talked about buying a campervan for ages and we’d love to do this. This is a little guest post explaining some pros and cons about it all! Making a camper out of a traditional van requires top-notch DIY skills. In the course of the conversion, you’ll take on several roles, with each role requiring your ultimate care and attention.
Our dream Scottish road trip
AD – Collaborative post with Carparison
Before the second lockdown and after the first we were planning our honeymoon trip to Scotland and this post with Carparison came up and I thought it was the perfect time to share what our plans were and what we’d love to do in the future.
Where?
We wanted to spend a whole week travelling from where we are in Nottingham, up to the Lakes as a stop off on the way and straight to Ayr to see the beaches, have some amazing fish and chips and explore things there.
3 Money Saving Tips for New Drivers
AD – Collaborative Post with Dayinsure
It’s coming up to almost 10 years since I learned to drive and I actually can’t believe that I’ve been driving for almost a decade. That’s terrifying and now my younger siblings will be learning to drive in a few years and it is just crazy how fast the time goes isn’t it? We’re thinking about family cars for the future and are finally in a place where we can probably have most cars that we like and we don’t have to be *too* cost conscious which is really nice when it comes to choosing our next car.
How to Plan Trip Of A Lifetime Honeymoon
AD – Collaborative post with affiliate links
As you probably know, we’re wedding planning and planning a honeymoon is something that I thought we’d spend most of this year doing. We’ve had to postpone our wedding and therefore have also obviously postponed the honeymoon that we hadn’t even booked yet! We were planning a Scottish highlands trip if we were actually getting married but this has been scuppered too so it’s all planning hands on deck for next year (hopefully!). Here are a few of my tips on where to start when choosing somewhere for your honeymoon.
Hurt Arms Ambergate Review
For a certain someone’s special birthday I booked a treat night away local to us at the Hurt Arms in Ambergate. We loved it so I thought I’d do a little review for anyone close to us in Nottingham that fancies a night away that’s not too far to travel or if anyone is venturing up towards Derbyshire on their UK travels it’s a lovely place to stay that’s really close to picturesque places like Matlock Bath and Bakewell.
The Hoxton, Holborn Review
This weekend we stayed at The Hoxton in Holborn and it really was lovely so I wanted to do a little review because I was so impressed.
We paid for this trip, it wasn’t gifted in any way. I mentioned it was for my birthday on the booking section on Hotels.com and the team left us a small bottle of wine in the room with a note saying happy birthday which was so nice. They also had a lovely little map, magazines and nice guides of the area too to read through.
How to pick the perfect winter weekend getaway
You know what it’s like, countless catch ups, cocktails, cute festive activities, I mean it starts around Halloween and Bonfire night and continues for about two months, doesn’t it? As much as I love getting out and about and being busy during the festive period there’s something to be said about hitting the hard reset button after summer and getting a rest before the chaos ensues! But, how can you choose the perfect place that’s really going to relax you? 1. Know what you want to get out of your break When I’m looking for a weekend getaway it usually depends on how we’re feeling as to what we’re going for. We always plan to go somewhere based on what we feel we need to get out of the break. If we’re feeling a bit stressed by daily life, work and like we need to shake off the city and get some fresh air into our lungs then we’ll always look for somewhere to visit with some great walks and National Trust properties to visit and we’ll make the most of that membership. On this type of break we’ll be cosy, wear fleeces and generally not leave our cabin or apartment because it’s chill time.If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I love to explore the UK and get out and about for long weekends and seasonal escapes! Check out our adventures to North Yorkshire and this amazing log cabin lodge that we found on AirBnb. I’m on the hunt for another break soon as the run up to Christmas, and the season itself, is bound to be manic.
But sometimes we want a super luxury break with a lovely, quaint city such as York to wander around, eat amazing food and stay in a luxury hotel or apartment. On this kind of break we’re after a treat, a gorgeous meal, a spa treatment, amazing cocktails – generally just feeling fancy and treating ourselves for working hard.
186 hours in Dubrovnik
What can I say about Dubrovnik? It is gorgeous and it will always have a place in my heart of course, because we got engaged there but overall it is such a romantic city and there’s so much to see and do. Here are my top five things to do in Dubrovnik, Croatia. We stayed for a week because it was part summer holiday and part city break for us as we hadn’t had a ‘holiday’ for about 18 months due to buying our house but I would say that you could easily see everything Dubrovnik has to offer in around 3 to 4 days if you packed it all in!
Dubrovnik Food Diary
It’s definitely going to be true to say that we ate well during our trip to Dubrovnik. I wanted to share some of our favourites with you from easy lunches to incredible sushi and some harbour-side restaurants. There’s places to eat and drink across the whole price range but overall, Dubrovnik is quite an expensive city to eat out in. We had plenty of cost-effective lunches and snacks as we loved the evening vibe and wanted to spend more on our meals out for most of the evenings. Let’s get into it!
5 Getaways for the Adventurous
When the majority of people think about holidays, they might think about heading away on a beach holiday. That’s what we’re doing this year but we always try and chuck in some fun activities and sports along the way. Thoughts of sun, sea and sand automatically spring to mind and we all look forward to kicking back and relaxing while topping up the tan. Beach hols are the be all and end all, I love a good city break and there’s always activities to do in resorts too. There are plenty of alternative trips out there. Check out my 3 out of the box things to do in Crete for some previous fun we’ve had! If you’re a little more adventurous and feel you’d get a little bored sitting around doing next to nothing for a week or two, here are a few ideas that you might find more appealing!
