If a budget wedding is on the cards, as it is for us, everything you buy is scrutinised with the “do we really need this?” question. It’s not about being ‘stingy’ it’s about only getting what you really want and need out of your big day. For me, the dress and what I wear is important, of course, but it’s not the be all and end all of my day. I haven’t been dreaming of a wedding and a big white dress since I was a little girl. I’ve dreamt of a happy family since I was a little girl and that’s what our wedding day is all about for me.
3 cute wedding guest outfit ideas
Wedding season is well and truly here, I don’t know how many hen and stag parties I’ve seen roaming the various cities I’ve visited recently but they are everywhere! I’m heading to one this week myself and I’m so excited as it’s my first wedding since I was 12 and a bridesmaid so it’ll be a very different affair to that one I expect. It’s also a good friend’s wedding and I’m just so thrilled for her I’m so excited to be celebrating with them! Here are three outfits that are perfect for this glorious weather and super happy occasions.
My denim evolution
Denim is one of those things that I think people have comfort blankets with, it definitely is for me. I’m 80% a skinny jeans girl these days and have been for a long time now. Pre-skinny jeans days it was all about the boot cut for the school disco, right? And before the boot cut days it was all about the skater fit jeans – remember those Tammy Girl dreamboats? Amazing. The more ripped, the baggier, the grubbier, the better. Those were the days. My jeans evolution has grown with me as I’m sure it has for most people my age and denim will always be my number one go-to for the start of an outfit.
The Weekend Round Up: All Pink Everything
Pink is everywhere at the moment! From fashion buys to pastel hair, pink is always a spring trend and this year it seems bigger than ever. I headed down to Intu Victoria Centre with the gorgeous Robyn for a catch up, a glass of prosecco and a look at some lovely spring trends (including a lot of pink!)
Hey Mickey, You’re So Fine
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how cute these tights are? They were super cheap from Primark and add a little something extra to a typical outfit for me. If you know me, you know that I pretty much live in denim in stripes and this CDG Play style top is actually from eBay and I’ve found a super similar one here from Daisy Street for only £12.99! My black denim pinafore is actually from New Look and again there’s a similar one here from ASOS which is lovely. I threw on my trusty Warehouse Faux Leather Jacket, similar in real leather from Mango here and my favourite Vans Old Skool Classic Trainers. Jewellery wise, my Crossbones Ring is from Bloody Mary Metal and the Large Stone Ring is from Rock n Rose.
Monogram > Monochrome
I’m usually a huge monochrome fiend as you probably know. I love to wear a lot of black, grey and white (well, white when I’m feeling brave and or not going near food or coffee) but occasionally I like a little pop of colour to an outfit and when I saw this bright yellow door near the castle in Nottingham, I knew I had to shoot an outfit photo here. Yep, I’m using a door as my pop of colour and I’m totally OK with that.
Leather Goods
This leather skirt is one of my closet veterans. I say that because it’s been in my wardrobe for longer than two years which is a long stint as far as my clothes are concerned. This is because it’s amazing quality, the fit is spot on and it will never go out of style. This is the type of piece that you can easily dress up or play down and most of the time I play my denim down. This is a classic outfit for me. Navy + stripes + black + trainers = everyday uniform. It’s actually a shocker there’s no denim in sight!
Building My Capsule Wardrobe: 1
I’ve always loved fashion and style but have kind of struggled with the classic cliche of having loads of clothes but not actually knowing what to wear mentality. I’m fed up with it now and after watching & reading Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup’s capsule wardrobe videos and posts, I checked out Un-fancy, the blog she got her inspiration from and I decided to give it a go.
Monochrome Sports Luxe
This post is all about the softest, buttery leather skirt I have ever seen! It’s so comfy and easy to wear, it goes with anything but for this outfit post I decided to go for a more casual look with my Nike Air Max Thea trainers & a Vans t-shirt. This skirt is from Warehouse, a brand I’ve often walked past I’ll admit it, in favour of other places like Zara but I will definitely be shopping there more in the future. I’ve recent just bought the leather jacket in a wish list post I did a few weeks ago and I’ve been so impressed with it. I had a faux-leather skirt from Miss Selfridge which was a size too big for me and looked nowhere near as nice as this one so that’s been forever shunned in the place of this beauty! My favourite new A/W piece. Check out the rest of the skirts at Warehouse, you’ll definitely find one that you’ll love!
The 5-Piece A/W Monochrome Wishlist
Today, I’ve got a little wish list of AW lovelies that I’ve got my eye on. First up is this Marc Jacobs watch from Watches2U, I was recently having a little Google sesh for a leather strap watch and I came across this MJ one on Watches2U, isn’t it lovely? Next up is this beautiful Matt & Nat Bag from ASOS. It’s such a classic and simple design and it looks amazing quality. Continuing the leather love-in I’ve got this Warehouse Rib Sleeve Biker Jacket included. This may have already made it’s way into my wardrobe but it’s so beautiful I couldn’t not put it in my wish list to share it with you guys! Also, Warehouse are doing 20% student discount at the moment so definitely get your skates on and take advantage of that.
