3 Recipes That Love Honey

During my little clean eating stint I’ve been trialling a little bit of the Steens Raw Manuka Honey as a sweetener for a lot of my favourite meals and snacks. It’s amazing in porridge and in smoothies but I’ve got three recipes ideas to share with you today that I’ve also been really enjoying. So, what’s different about this honey to your average squeezy? Well for a start it’s a lot more opaque and doesn’t, in my opinion, taste as sweet as your average out-the-bottle honey.

Raw Manuka honey also has amazing immune system boosting properties as well as digestive health benefits – all of the amino acids and enzymes haven’t been ‘burnt out’ as the honey is cold pressed. It’s got really high antibacterial levels so it’s fab for tackling winter colds and sore throats when mixed into hot water.

‌Homemade Granola, Honey & Raspberries

I’ve been having homemade granola at least once a week for breakfast when I fancy a break from eggs and it’s lovely with a drizzle of this honey and some fresh berries on top. When I’m having a carb-heavy breakfast like this I usually pair it with a protein shake to make sure I stay full and hit my protein goal!

‌Honey Roasted Root Vegetables

I absolutely love honey-roasted vegetables such as carrots, parsnips and peppers, I find them so comforting and they taste great. This also works really well as a touch on top of a salmon fillet with some chilli!

Banana Pancakes with Honey

Pancakes seem like such an indulgent brunch to me so making them with just eggs and bananas is a pretty good way of keeping calories down and protein up! Drizzle on some honey, it’s a great syrup alternative and you still get that sweet hit.
