During our Oxford escape we discovered The Handle Bar, an amazing hidden cafe and restaurant tucked into a side street in the middle of the city centre. They serve brunch all day which is amazing as we got there around lunch time but didn’t fancy an actual lunch in terms of a salad or a burger so we opted for some serious brunch goals. The menu was packed with pancakes, granola, brioche buns and your classic breakfast choices too.
Luke went for the all day breakfast with these amazing baked butter beans, bacon, toast, sausage, mushrooms, the lot. I was seriously tempted by the coconut pancakes but I opted for the super tasty avocado on toast topped with seeds and feta plus bacon and a poached egg. The food was amazing and the coffee was perfect too.
From road bikes to Penny Farthings the walls were covered in bikes and it was so cool! The Handle Bar is above a cycling shop which sells your usual cycle helmets and cycle clothing as well as doing repairs. The cafe is always full of super healthy cyclists making you feel bad about ordering your second coffee and tucking into some sausages. I’m joking, obviously, the atmosphere was so relaxed and it was made all the more lovely by the fact that it was super sunny outside. I’d massively recommend taking time out of your trip to Oxford to visit The Handle Bar for brunch, lunch or even dinner. It was really reasonably priced, amazing quality food and coffee, great service and a lush atmosphere.
