5 Tips To Help You Go Sugar-Free

People eat so much sugar these days, it’s in everything! While the sweet stuff isn’t all that bad in moderation, there has been a lot of talk about going sugar-free. Or at least cutting it down a fair bit. I tried clean-eating successfully for a full 8 weeks which includes basically nothing out of a packet. When you start to think about it it’s unreal how much extra stuff is in our food from the supermarkets that we don’t need. Which got me thinking about how you could do that while trying to sustain a normal life and not losing the will to love. I thought I would share with you a few tips!

1. Be More Aware Of Food Labels

These days, food is much more clearly labelled. Not necessarily the natural ingredients but certain more convenience foods and shop packaged items. They follow a colour coordinated system which tells you the level of sugar in the product you are buying. Working of red, amber or green. Green being the best and red being the worst. Familiarise yourself with the labels to make shopping much easier for you. This is a great way to look at more reduced sugar items or even find alternatives that don’t include sugar at all.

2. Try Alternative Methods To Help You Reduce The Sugar You Eat

If you are a hefty consumer of sugar, then cutting out completely could be a huge problem for you. This is when you need to take the pressure off and look at alternative methods to help you ease off the sweet stuff. You might want to consider investing in books which will have details reasonings and advice. Or even try something like miracle berry tablets. This is something that can make alternative sour tasting products taste sweeter and better. Making it easier to opt for better choice instead of high sugar alternatives.

3. Start Small

The biggest risk anyone can take is trying to change too quickly. Which is why it’s advisable to start off with small changes. This could be a simple as reducing the amount of sugar you drink in your tea or cutting out certain snacks for healthier alternatives. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. What people fail to realise is this isn’t a diet it’s more of a lifestyle change.

4. Do Your Research

Research is important to understand what items have sugar in them. You might be surprised that there are plenty of ingredients or meals that have high sugar levels. So it can be harder to change things with dinner and lunch meal times. Just ensure you look into each ingredient and try and always cook things from scratch. Convenience foods and ready meals tend to have a high intake of sugar just to enhance the flavour which is gross when you think about it.

5. Invest In Recipe Books

Finally, invest in recipe books, read blogs and follow people on social media that have this kind of lifestyle. You will find plenty of inspiration and motivation to keep going. Plus the recipe ideas create a good foundation for you to build on. I hope these tips help you if you are on the journey to becoming sugar-free!
