I wanted to call this blog post ‘how to deal with a sports injury without losing your mind’ but I thought it was probably a bit of a harsh way to put it and it might offend. But, in reality, it’s the truth. Not being able to do something that you always do and love can really affect your mental health, your wellbeing and your happiness. Here’s three things that I’m trying to do myself at the moment to deal with my own injury.
The average person spends around a third of their life asleep. And our bodies do amazing things during that time. It allows us to repair, rest, and relax. Well, hopefully anyway. If you are one of the unlucky people that sufferers getting to sleep, then getting a good night’s sleep can seem like a dream. When you don’t sleep properly, it can affect your mood, your productivity, and even your health. So making sure that you sleep well should be a priority as it can affect so many areas of your life. So if you want to be sleeping like a baby in no time at all, here are some tips and tricks. I hope they help!
New workout gear and goodies always motivate me to hit the gym if I’m feeling a bit tired of working out. It’s just great to mix things up in the gym and sometimes all it takes is some new leggings or a sassy new yoga mat to give you a bit of a rocket to get on with stuff! I’ve actually just downloaded the SWEAT app by Kayla Itsines and I’m going to give that a go as a bit of a refresh in my routine. Please let me know if anyone’s tried it in the comments or on Twitter.
During our recent visit to Rethymno, Platanias and Chania in Crete we did some pretty awesome things. We’re not the usual sit around the pool holiday-makers. Of course, we love to relax but we also love to get out and so some fun and exciting activities that we can’t do at home. Here are three of the best things to do if you ever venture to north Crete!
FUN, FREE OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES ON OFFER TO THOUSANDS OF NOTTINGHAM RESIDENTS WITH THE RETURN OF PARKLIVES
I’m partnering with Coca-ColaGreat Britain on this post and their awesome ParkLives initiative. For a third year, more than 25 parks across Nottingham will be hosting hundreds of free activity sessions to get us fit for summer. From Pilates to Nordic Walking and even paddle board (SUP) Yoga there is literally something for everyone of every ability – even buggy fitness for all those mamas out there.
The importance of exercise when working in an office is huge. Sitting down all day can be really bad for you! If I don’t leave work at lunchtime for a stroll around town or to run some errands then I literally can clock up less than 4000 steps a day which I only get in because we walk to and from the carpark which is about 25-30 minutes walking a day in total. This is shocking!
You’ve probably seen me tweeting all about Hot Pod Yoga for weeks, right? I’ve been trying to get everyone to go to the new pod that’s opened up in Nottingham city centre because I’m a total convert.
One of my fave blogger gals Becca is a huge fan and I would always see her ‘gramming about how amazing it is. Another amazing lady from work also goes and we had a trial through her as well so I’ve been going for about a month now on the various awesome launch membership offers that Sarah at the pod has been offering. And then, luckily the lovely Molly from Rose Beauty Files set up a blogger trial afternoon with them at the pod so I jumped at the chance for another go.
Treats, sweets and chocolate don’t have to be seasonal. You can definitely have them all year round (I mean every day) if you want them! Obviously, some people will just say “duh” and eat it anyway. This post probably isn’t for you. This post is for people that think that chocolate and cakes are ‘fattening’, bad for you and generally a once in a blue moon thing. Totally not the case. They’re obviously full of sugar and aren’t packed with vitamins but if they keep you sane in small quantities then they’re totally fine and I think, essential.
Staying hydrated is a huge thing for me. I’m constantly drinking water both to keep myself hydrated and I’ve also got into the habit of carrying water everywhere because if my Invisalign, incase I need a quick drink to make them more comfortable or after I’ve had a coffee and there’s no time for a full teeth clean! If you want to read more about my Invisalign course, check out my blog post with all the lowdown. Even if I’m just heading out for a coffee, shopping, into town or whether I’m travelling or going to work, you’ll always find me with a bottle of water. I find that I get headaches really easily if I don’t top up my beverage levels!
When it comes to training and fitness, as much as we’re all going crazy with the HIIT workouts, getting up at crazy o’clock and morphing ourselves into ‘fitness and wellness’ experts, we all need time to chill out and basically not be in the gym. Here are three things that I always do to recover from training.
