January. It’s here and it’s as hard as we all remember. Dark mornings, rainy days and absolutely minimal vitamin D. Ugh. The struggle is well and truly real with looking fresh and perky during the gross winter months. Sometimes you just need a little help and these 5 skincare treats have been helping me feel and look just a little bit more awake! Let me know if you tried any of these products and what you think about them in the comments.
Sorry, I can’t. I’m washing my hair.
Does anyone actually ever use that hilarious excuse? Maybe, I don’t know but I might start. I usually wash my hair every two days and then liberally spray my entire head in dry shampoo every other day. I used to wash my hair every day before dry shampoo was a thing and I am so glad we have all moved with the times because I just couldn’t be bothered to wash it every day these days. Sleep is definitely more of a necessity! My Sunday routine often consists of face masks and hair washing (post bathroom cleaning – obviously!).
Gift sets have to be one of the best things about Christmas, right? Teeny little beauty products, exclusive sets, fresh bottles of perfume and amazing deals from our fave skincare and beauty stores. I just think beauty at Christmas is just extra special! Here are 14 gifts that I’d love to find underneath the tree and that I’d definitely buy for a beauty lover such as myself!
Browsing beauty counters is something that I’ve loved for years. Swatching the shades, getting mini makeovers and walking away with a treat beautifully wrapped in a gorgeous brand’s packaging? The dream for beauty junkies, right? Totally is! So, this is why I was super excited when a new Nars counter landed in John Lewis in Nottingham city centre and I was invited down to check it out.
While I’m still trying to prolong the end of summer as this weird hot October weather is taking over, I need to accept that the seasons are changing! With this change comes loads to look forward to – one of those being new hair trends to try out. I’m definitely going to go a little darker for the winter as I’ve been quite blonde for most of the summer. Check out these 6 sweet trends for AW.
Blog photography is one of those things that look effortless and gorgeous when they’re done right and is something that I’m always striving to improve. I’m not the biggest fan of my own photography a lot of the time and I’m not great at teaching myself new skills. So I think it’s just something I need to put the effort in to improve myself. If anyone has any tips posts on photography for the Olympus Pen ELP7, please hook me up in the comments!
I often get asked where I’d recommend to go for hair, nails, brows etc and as much as I like to try new places and new treatments, I always go back to my favourites and the ladies that I trust. Grab a cuppa and settle down for a little ramble about my favourite beauty locations in and around Nottingham!
I rarely purchase new makeup these days because I’m trying to use up everything I’ve already got but I have picked up some new bits over the past couple of weeks that I’m really enjoying so I wanted to share some of these gems with y’all.
We ran into some lovely Benefit samples at work and I went home with the Benefit GoGo Tint and the Benefit They’re Real Duo Shadow Blender which was a lovely surprise. Let’s start with the eyeshadow. The weird little applicator is impossible to use so let’s just forget about that. It’s tiny and you can not keep hold of it unless you have a pincer grip. But, the product itself, being the eyeshadow is a beautiful rich taupe-y brown shade and I’ve been using it almost everyday because it’s lovely and matte. The shimmery shade is also a great highlight colour and the formula of both is buttery and smooth and really long lasting.
Microdermabrasion sounds so scary. Like sandpapering your face, right? Well, that’s what I thought until I was invited to try the Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion treatment at Alexsa Beauty in Mansfield.
What is it?
This facial is a ‘resuracing treatment’ that gets to work on problem skin, pigmentation, lines, wrinkles and acne scarring. Basically, it’s meant to leave your skin rejuvenated, soft and refreshed!
I never thought I’d be the type of girl to crave a ‘dressing table’ or somewhere to lay all my makeup out but after not having one forever I’m definitely wanting one at the moment! I think once we’re finally settled in a ‘proper house’ it’ll be high up on my list of priorities for our bedroom.
