Why It’s OK Not To Have Defined Personal Style

Personal style is one of those things I like to think I’ve had all my life. From my beloved emo stage to where I am today I think I’ve always had my own sense of style. I’m happy that I’m never going to be a cookie-cutter Instagram-famous Missguided-wearing (OK, I have some pieces from Missguided but you know the dresses I mean!) type of girl. I’m more likely going to be wearing something a little bit fun like a faux fur bag or trying my best to channel a minimalist Scandi look than a bodycon dress, sky high heels or the latest slogan t-shirt.

No two days are the same for me style-wise. One day, like I say, I want to wear 100% monochrome and be all minimalist and the next day I’ll be wearing hi-top Vans and dungarees. I was inspired to write this post by a post I read on Sophie’s blog, Fashion Slave titled In Defence of Not Defining Your Personal Style. I’m basically just trying to back her up here because I massively agree with her. You don’t have to have one set style if you don’t want to. Style is your own thing and you can do whatever you want with it. I think too many people are trapped within the mentality of if their favourite bloggers or celebrities on Instagram aren’t wearing it, they won’t wear it. Have a little imagination and be creative, don’t be scared of what people think. If you like it, wear it. I probably look like someone that got lost on the way out of a charity shop to some people and others are asking me wear my coat is from because they’d like to have it in their wardrobe. Basically, people will either love or hate your style but as long as you’re into it, rock it!

This is one of my favourite pieces at the moment, this camouflage cotton parka with blue faux fur from JD Williams is just super cool. I love that the faux fur is dark blue not your normal black! I spied it on Anneli Bush’s Instagram, she’s one of my fave style bloggers at the moment, I think she always look awesome and different but in a quite classic way. I’m wearing it with my trusty Topshop Moto Mom jeans and super cute Primark faux fur bag. Obvioulsy Primark don’t sell online but this River Island baby is a similar style but in an amazing pink colour! Topped off with some uber comfy slip on Vans – mine are kind of scaly and metallic but I love the classic black and white ones too for casual weekend style.
