5 Shoes Perfect For Straight Leg Denim

It’s official, say goodbye to your trusty skinny jeans (sob!) and welcome the old favourite straight leg denim back into your life. Straight leg jeans are the epitome of relaxed style, coming in and out of trends as time rolls on – but its official, they are back on trend for 2017.

Getting the right fit is vital. Make sure they’re slim, but not tight like skinnies. With a clean-cut but casual look, they look great with sweaters or relaxed tees. They are great for perfecting the chilled-out style. Whilst choosing the right top to match with your jeans is pretty easy – shoes however, can be tricky. They can make or break an outfit, so choose wisely when finishing off your outfit. Here are some of my favourite choices…

1. Trainers
For those truly casual days, opt for a canvas trainer like Converse to finish off the dressed-down look. For blue jeans, opt for white trainers. Alternatively, you can also opt for slip-on trainers like Vans, which suit casual straight leg jeans down to a tee. You’ll know by now that I love Vans! Any sort of trainers look awesome with straight leg jeans.

2. Ballet Flats
In warmer weather, simple ballet flats are a must have. The hem of your jeans should fall to about an inch off the floor, revealing only a little bit of your shoes – you don’t want to keep them hidden.

3. Ankle Boots
A pair of low heel ankle boots work very well with straight leg denim – they are a great alternative for colder weather.  Unlike skinny jeans, don’t tuck the jeans into the boots. Instead, let the jeans either hang over the top or cuff the jeans to show them off. I’m an ankle boot lover in the winter, especially chunky ones!

4. Mule Sandals
Mix it up with a pair of jewelled mule sandals in the summer. They make for a great combination  between the casual nature of straight leg jeans with an open style shoe that can stand you in good stead walking the high street. Why not try a leopard print pair to jazz things up?

5. Brogues
To transform your look into something a bit more formal, brogues are the perfect choice – a versatile piece of footwear that can be worn in the office or in a restaurant. You’ll want a smart brown or lighter pair if you’re wearing blue jeans – as black can clash.

As you can probably tell, there are so many options to rock with your straight leg jeans. Keep comfort and casual style in mind and you won’t go wrong!
