Do you think you’re a good driver? #UKDrivingDistractions

Story time about driving coming up! I passed my test when I was only just 18 which was a really early age to pass I think. I literally started learning when I was 17 and I’d had a few airfield driving lessons before then. I went through two driving instructors and bloomin’ 4 practical tests but I passed my theory first time. I think I’m an OK driver. I’m careful because I don’t drive all that often anymore – probably once a week to go to Tesco, if that! We have our car on finance which is super affordable and means we can trade it back in in a few years but there’s car leasing to try too as well if you don’t want to buy your car outright if you’re thinking of buying a new one.

So, I’ll tell you a funny story because it’s all about the 10 year challenge right now and I’m all about a throwback! When I was doing my work placement at uni I worked about a 30 minute drive from home and everyday I would sing my little heart out on the way to my placement and I actually lost my voice. Singing The Saturdays and Sean Paul probably. Love a bit of Sean Paul, don’t I? 24% of people surveyed in this infographic said that they find pop music the least distracting and I definitely agree. I love to have music on in the car. Do you have a driving playlist?
I’ve finally reached the age where I can get involved with hire and I’ll tell you how stressful that is! You get used to parking your own car and driving it normally and just generally getting on with your day without really thinking about it and then you get a hire car and it’s totally different. I even got the same car as I drove, well not exactly (mine has heated seats and this pile of crap didn’t) but it was a Corsa all the same. But it was so different, I was so much more alert and worried about being distracted in the car because obviously if I crashed it, totally my fault and a very expensive work trip out for me.
Apparently 32% of people eat whilst they’re driving and I am not about this life. I just like to concentrate on my snacks, not miss the experience by trying to change gear. When it comes to make-up, I’ll put lip balm/gloss on like 45% of women surveyed but definitely nothing else. When I used to stay at my friend’s house some nights before school, her mum would put mascara on in the car on the drive to school!
What do you reckon, do you think you’re a good driver – would you apply makeup or eat a burger in the car?
