New in beauty for April: Cult brands & classics

We can say spring is officially here now, can’t we? It’s April!

Pastel colours and wardrobe switches are on and I’ve added some beauty bits into my routine for the spring time, some new products, some have just recently come into my collection and they all look very cute and spring like together so I wanted to share. These are some essentials that I can’t live without right now – basically an old school favourites post without the typical ‘April Favourites’ title! I hope you enjoy – let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of these products and what you thought.

Hairspo
I recently went back to super blonde which I’m loving but it means that purple shampoo and colour treatments are weekly occurrences. I’m using the Wellaplex / Olaplex No 3 Hair Stabilizer* available from Lookfantastic which is the at home version of Olaplex that is used in salons when you have a lot of bleach on your hair to keep it super healthy and strong. Luckily, my hair is surprisingly strong and I’m not sure how because I’ve put it through some crap over the years! But, saying that, I always get a colour save treatment or Wellaplex if I’m having a lot of bleach or colour just to look after it. I also always use a hair oil or damage repair serum when I blow dry my hair to limit any further damage. I got mine treatment and my colour from KH Hair and salons will usually carry this line if they’re using Olaplex/Wellaplex on your hair whilst you’re having it done. Hello, super soft and strong hair!

Cult beauty
I’ve been using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 30ml for a few months now and it really calms down my skin when I’m tackling a break out. I got mine from ASOS and it’s only £5 which is a ridiculous price for an amazing acne prone skin product that treats oversized pores. It doesn’t feel sticky sinks in quite well onto cleansed and sits well under overnight masks and oils like the one I’m going to mention at the end of this post. The Ordinary is definitely a bit of a cult brand – it’s crazy affordable and has incredible minimalist packaging. I’ve tried a fair few of their products and I’ve liked them all so far – would definitely recommend giving some of them a go if you haven’t tried the brand before. Don’t be put off by the purse-friendly price.

Next up is the Glossier Milky Oil – a brand new product from Glossier based on their cult classic Milky Jelly Cleanser which was created when they asked people what their ideal cleanser would do, feel, smell like, leave their skin feeling. Cool, right? This guy is £10 and I’m not sure if it’s worth quite that much because you need a fair bit of product to really get your waterproof mascara off. It doesn’t sting my eyes and doesn’t leave a gross residue so I like it but the jury’s still out on value for money at the moment. Cute packaging, though.

Cute classics
I love French brands and L’Occitane have always been on my radar. They’ve brought out the cutest Easter gifts that are perfect if you’d like to buy someone a gift and they’re adamant they don’t want chocolate! The L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Easter Egg* is packed with three super cute mini version of their Cherry Blossom range, the shower gel, body lotion and hand cream. I’m saving the shower gel and body lotion for a holiday or weekend away in the future because I love a good quality mini whilst I’m away. There’s no mini Original Source for me when I’m on hols, I like a treat at all times!

L’Occitane skincare is amazing for my skin too. It never irritates my skin, it always leaves it feeling soft and I like their packaging and the scents are always lovely. Their brand new Aqua Réotier Mineral Moisture Mask* popped through my letterbox which was a lovely PR sample and I was excited to try it. I love an overnight mask or an oil in the evening as opposed to a normal moisturiser, I find that they give my skin the hydration it needs whilst I sleep. This mask is an ‘Ultra-mineral hydrating mask for instansely quench the skin’ and it’s packed full of hyaluronic acid and water-binding molecules, to intensely quench skin’s thirst whenever your skin needs it most. It feels like velvet on the skin and it’s super moisturising without being oily so it’s nice when you’re not feeling like having a greasy face! Very much enjoying applying this after my evening skincare. What do you think – are you an oil/mask gal or do you prefer a moisturiser?
