If you love sweet potato fries and air hockey, have I got the venue for you.
We checked out Penny Lane when it first opened and loved the games and cocktails but I haven’t had a chance to try the food properly and finally we did. A tasty little lunch was just what the doctor ordered for a chilled weekend (and it was the day before we got on the holiday prep so we went all out!). I’ll get straight into the delicious food because I was really impressed and would definitely go for lunch again. I’ve actually already booked our work Christmas party for here for December because I loved the games and cocktails so much I took a chance on the food and I’m glad that I have now.
We went for the bacon-wrapped hotdog with chipotle mayo and jalapenos plus onions of course in an amazingly soft and perfectly chewy pretzel bun and the buttermilk fried chicken burger, topped with red onion, tomato, lettuce & peri peri mayo. We both had the sweet potato fries and they were really great.

All the food was served perfectly hot – this is a bug bear of mine if food is served lukewarm or even worse, cold. I was really impressed! The slaw was delicious and not vinegary at all, I often find if slaw is cheap it’s really tart but this one was creamy and really nice so I think they must make it in house and not buy it in which was a big tick from me. The hot dog was good quality and massive – topped with bacon, not wrapped as the menu said but I really liked the bacon bits on top mixed with the sweet onions. I also loved the chipotle mayo on top. Luke’s chicken burger looked great and he enjoyed it too, it was a good side and looked juicy too but could have probably been boosted with some cheese, as everything can be. Our service was also awesome, lovely waitresses with personality that were super helpful and nice.

Drinks-wise I opted for a mocktail and chose the Mai-Tai Be Driving which is a hilarious name and a lovely mocktail with orange, pineapple and passionfruit – plus it looks as funky as a cocktail which is always a bonus when you’re getting a non alcoholic cocktail. We were gifted this lunch from Penny Lane and I was invited to the press launch but any other visit I’ve paid for myself if you see it on my Instagram (I’m always there!).
