AD – 5 steps to all out glow with Jurlique

I’m here today with an all out guide to prepping skin for makeup and getting an amazing glow as part of a collaboration with Jurlique. I’ve been lucky enough to try some of their gorgeous Rare Rose moisture-boosting range and wanted to walk you through my daily skincare routine with this range to get a glowing finish and super dewy skin.

1. Cleanse

Let’s run through my morning skincare routine. I always start by cleansing my face with a gentle cleanser with warm (not hot!) water and taking that off with a muslin cloth to carefully exfoliate the skin. This removes overnight grime and any dead skin cells which leaves a smooth base for serum and moisturiser.

2. Soothe & Hydrate

Now it’s time for a serum and moisturiser step as well as a little brightening eye cream. I apply the Rare Rose Moisture Plus Serum on slightly damp skin so to lock in more moisture and then layer the Rare Rose Moisture Plus Lotion to soothe and hydrate the skin which is one of the best hydrating moisturisers that  Jurlique do, it’s been clinically proven to deliver 24 hour hydration.

Jurlique have a product called Activating Water Essence which can help the skin retain even more moisture.

Layering makeup on top of a hydrated base will make your makeup last longer and avoid flakes that show later on. My main dry patches are my forehead and occasionally my chin whereas the rest of my skin is more dehydrated than dry so I tend to focus a bit on these areas with a little extra moisturiser. Give your moisturiser a few minutes to sink in before applying your primer or moving onto your makeup routine. Whilst you’re waiting – move onto the next step.

3. Boost the flow

Skincare for dewy skin starts with boosting oxygen and moisture in the skin and celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff has the secret to this. Getting incredible but natural looking skin is all about hard work, not piling on layers of makeup and that’s my kind of look! I want to look glowing and healthy without having to pile on too much makeup. Pati says; “The make-up that I love is when the skin feels really alive and fresh, but if you just go and put foundation on cold skin, it looks flat and you need more coverage.”

She rolls skin with a jade roller or a gua-sha to boost the oxygen flow in the skin and this makes you look more awake and there isn’t the need to conceal and cover as much! This action mirrors and complements the hydrating rose skincare benefits and creates even more dewy and supple skin.

4. Make up

We’re all dying to know how to make makeup stay on longer and I’ve been watching YouTube make-up artists for years to try and teach myself how to get that flawless finish. I know that both Jamie Genevieve and Lisa Eldridge favour the light layers approach to creating a glowing base instead of whacking on loads of foundation and concealer. Even when it comes to using a full coverage foundation, they opt for lighter layers of the product. Check out some of my 2019 beauty favourites from last year if you’re interested in some of the products that I like.

I like a full coverage foundation for day to day wear usually as I like my make up to last but I’ll always add a highlighter and some blush across my cheeks and my nose for that sun kissed look. Head to step 5 for the next way to make your makeup glow and last all day…

5. Spritz and glow

Once you’ve applied your makeup, spritz on the Rosewater Balancing Mist to lock in all your other skincare products and ensure a soft, dewy finish. Plus, spritzing throughout the day is a great way to fix the age old ‘how to fix dry makeup question’ too! Head over to Jurlique’s website to check out their range of gorgeous natural and effective skincare.
