Waking up feeling refreshed is the best feeling, isn’t it? Of course it’s difficult to achieve all the time with stress and busy-ness of everyday life but there are a few things that you can do to improve your snooze and have a more productive morning.
1. Get a great night’s sleep
The benefits of a good night’s sleep include stress reduction, a supported the immune system, memory improvement, lowered blood pressure and improved mood. I know that I’m definitely happier when I’m not tired, anyway!
Having a good night’s sleep depends on lots of things. What you eat, drink, watch, do and how you feel before you sleep so this can’t always be controlled. I like to make sure that I read before bed to switch off and I like to use a relaxing sleep spray on my pillows as well as sometimes listen to a Headspace Sleepcast or a relaxing podcast before I try to go to sleep. I also try to not eat for about at least an hour before I head to bed.
The second thing that ensures I have a better than expected night’s sleep is my bedding. We sorted out our mattress a little while ago and we’re happy with this set up for now but I had actually forgotten the last time we’d bought new pillows and a new duvet which is pretty bad isn’t it?
I’ve recently been very kindly sent the Snug Just Right duvet and pillow pair, a new brand of bedding that I’m excited to be sharing with you and I can honestly say that they are so comfy and cosy. I didn’t know how unexciting and lumpy my old duvet and pillows were until I changed them to these little marshmallow-y piles of goodness. Snug guarantee ‘happy sleep’ and if my FitBit sleep scores are anything to go by, it’s working for me!
A good night’s sleep is so important to me as I want to feel able to exercise, be motivated to eat well and get stuff done with my day. And, if I don’t sleep well the next day is essentially a write off and I’ll be irritable and unproductive and more than likely want to snack on tonnes of crisps. These new pillows and the duvet have definitely improved my sleep over the past couple of weeks and they just make my bed feel even more luxurious and comfortable.

The Snug sets are also super affordable with the Snug Just Right Pillow Pair costing just £9.99 and the Snug Just Right 10.5 Tog Duvet that we have is just £18.99 for a double. They also have a ‘Chill Out’ range which controls temperature for slightly more money so you can choose what best suits your sleep style! The Snug bedding is also eco-friendly as the filling is made using materials made from recycled products. Snug’s sustainable packaging is made from I’m Greenô, a new packaging derived from sugar cane farmed on renewable plantation fields and produced in mills that operate entirely on renewable energy. Finally the whole range is machine washable, so the products are easy to keep clean and hygienic.
You can find Snug products to buy on Amazon and Sleepy People’s website. Snug Just Right 10.5 Tog Duvet is available in sizes single, double and king. The Snug range offers a stress-free solution when it comes to choosing your bedding, so you can sleep happy in oodles of comfort.
2. Morning routine
A productive morning for me also comes from having a routine. During the whole lockdown period I’ve woken up and gone straight outside for a walk most days and listened to a podcast. Then, I’ve been having a coffee back in bed before showering and getting ready and starting work at home. I always make sure I have breakfast after my shower which is either a smoothie, cereal, toast with some eggs or peanut butter.
In my routine is always making to bed and tidying up as I get ready so I don’t feel like the house is a mess either!

3. Treat yourself
Having something to look forward to throughout the morning always makes me more productive too. Whether it’s a new episode of my favourite podcast to listen to on my morning walk, a chat with a friend over lunchtime or even just a really delicious lunch, having something to look forward to throughout the day makes me more motivated. Plus, having a lovely bed to get into at the end of the day is seriously something to look forward to!
