Tidy Friday: Sophie & Alex’s Kitchen

Here are some before and after snaps of a recent kitchen organisation project in Nottingham. Sophie and Alex are baking addicts and cook from scratch A LOT. So, it’s safe to say they have lots of ingredients but they also had an amazing amount of space in their recently renovated kitchen but they didn’t know quite how to use it in the best way. Plus they had a habit of buying things they already had in. I left them with a shopping list of items they DON’T need to buy for a while! Read More

The New House – Kitchen Makeover

Another house, another kitchen makeover! This is the first proper before and after decoration blog post for the new house – our kitchen mini-renovation. I showed you guys the living room but we didn’t do any ‘decorating’ in there. This time we didn’t go DIY kitchen makeover like we did last time we had a design done and a proper kitchen fitter come and install everything so it was sorted within a week. Whereas, when we did it ourselves it was over a number of months until we had our finalised kitchen. Read More

3 eco-friendly cleaning hacks

You guys will know I’m trying super hard to shop less, be sustainable with my style, make eco-friendly changes around the home and generally try and be kinder to the environment and I think I’m doing my bit.

  • Rarely buy single use plastic bottles or lunch-related items (I’m down to about 1-2 a month when I forget a.k.a drop my lunch or don’t have anything to hand if I’m travelling around)
  • Always take my ‘Swell’ metal reusable bottle out and about and to work
  • Try to use my reusable coffee cup when I can, I even have a spare one in my desk at work for whenever the caffeine craving strikes
  • Buying a lot more second hand clothes and generally not shopping that much at all. I actually have guilt when I go into shops and really spend so much less on new clothes and accessories than I ever have before!
  • Use brown paper packaging or reuse packaging from previous deliveries for eBay and Depop sales.
  • Use silicone baking sheets instead of foil to produce less waste
  • Recycle as much as physically poss in our area!

I still have so many things that I want to change and adapt too and the next thing on my list is eco-friendly cleaning products. The guys over at Pattersons have sponsored this post and provided a really cool list of three eco friendly cleaning hacks below. I mean, it’s not spring but there’s not a seasonal limit on changing up your eco friendly habits, right? Read More

A year after moving into our house, our kitchen is ready to be seen by the internet! Add on about a million wall plugs which didn’t need to be there and an 80s back door and we had the start of our project. Read More

3 Quick Kitchen Revamping Ideas

Upgrading and renovating your home is always a pricey thing to think about but you can make small changes every now and again when you can afford it, and they all add up to result in a gorgeous home that’s full of your own personality. Here are 3 tips to help you upgrade your kitchen for less. 1. Add Plants
This is my favourite tip for almost any room in a home that needs a little update! Adding faux or fresh plants and flowers really lift any room. And, as a bonus, you can get creative with your plant pots. By adding some materials like copper and silver-coloured plant pots you can really add some Scandi-cool vibes to your kitchen. I love cacti, succulents, and spider plants! 2. Fresh Utensils & Appliances Scour homeware websites and supermarkets for discounted and sale home appliances or just invest in a fresh toaster and kettle set and you’ll be surprised what £100 worth of new gadgets can do to a kitchen. Forget about that expensive renovation and just focus on small additions and remember to keep them clean. Everything looks better after a good clean, too! Plus, if you’ve got some manky wooden spoons and a melted spatula sitting in a jar next to your stove then it’s bound to look a bit naff, pick some new new spoons for a couple of pounds next time you’re in a homeware store and your whole kitchen will be instantly lifted! 3. Upgrade Your Metallics  Something small that can really lift a kitchen is the addition of some new metallic elements as they’re super shiny and will make your entire kitchen look like new! The easiest way to do this is to upgrade your cupboard handles if they’re metal and also your kitchen taps! You can pick up some new taps for between £100-175 from an online store such as Superbath who stock affordable and quality brands like Grohe. For a couple of weeks saving (and a few lew cocktails on a Friday night), you could have a super swish new kitchen taps and a fresh looking sink! Once you’ve scrubbed up your sink with some metal cleaner and added some sparkle, it’ll be as good as new. Obviously, if you know a kitchen fitter or a plumber that will do you some mates rates on the fitting that would save you, even more, pennies! This is a sponsored post from Superbath but all ideas and opinions are my own. Image Source
