Battle of the Liquid Eyeliners

The cats eye eyeliner flick is just like my hair style, a staple in my every day life that doesn’t change or alter too massively. I love a bit of continuity and stability within my morning routine! Today’s post is a little battle of the eyeliners, you can see which liquid marker pen eyeliners I like and which one I think is personally the best.

I love that most liquid eyeliners are now in marker pen format, it just makes life so much easier! Who remembers the days of proper liquid eyeliner and the messy nightmare that they used to cause, they took ages to try and I always put too much on one eye and had to even it up, did you? The eyeliners under the proverbial microscope today are Soap & Glory’s Super Cat Eyeliner Pen, the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner and L’Oreal Super Liner Black Buster.

Soap & Glory – £6
This is the cheapest of the whole lot that I’m reviewing today and it’s a really great budget buy. It’s half the price of the Eyeko version and it’s only marginally inferior. It comes out really black and bold and you only need one flick to get the right colour pay-off. The nib is really skinny too and it’s easy to create the perfect flick. It does wear off towards the end of the day, but that’s expected after 7-8 hours of wear so if you’re off out after work, I’d take it along in your make-up bag to top up in the ladies! I’d repurchase this again and again, it’s really good and is often in the Soap & Glory 3 for 2 offers so I’d snap it up if I were you!

Eyeko – £12
This one’s actually on offer with Glamour at the moment so I’d definitely pick it up while you can for £2! It’s a little gem to have in your make-up bag and always performs in my opinion. It’s the blackest and most pigmented out of the lot and I find that it does last a really long time. None of these products are particularly bad on the lasting time front but this one pips the lead from the rest. The nib is really skinny and easy to use, you can create a super slim flick or build it up for a bolder finish, I really love it and I’d recommend it to anyone.

L’Oreal – £6.99
The L’Oreal eyeliner is probably my least favourite, it’s too chunky and hard to handle and is really tricky to use if you want to have a flick that’s thinner towards the corner of your eye like I do. The colour pay-off isn’t as good as the other two and I have to put two coats on to get a good black line. It’s OK if you want a really chunky and bold eyeliner look first off but if you’re after a more subtle one the chubby nib won’t let you get anywhere near it unfortunately. I find that because the nib is so big, it’s quite messy with application too. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really like a chunky line every time.

I’d love to hear some reviews that you have of these products or ideas of other products I can use to create the classic Sixties eyeliner flick. I’ve heard that the Bobbi Brown Gel Liner is incredible, has anyone tried it?
