SheerSense Lip Sense Lip Stick Review

This was nearly the review that wasn’t. I nearly didn’t pick it up the other morning and try it as I’ve been waiting a few weeks for it to arrive due to warehouse issues and moving house and I’d kind of lost interest. They also don’t have the best branding and their website www.sheersense.com & social presence is pretty diabolical. You won’t have heard of them and I’m not sure about the branding and the name, but it’s such a shame because the product is really amazing. This is a truly honest review and I’m going to take you through my experience of using the product from hating it and wondering how on earth I could scrub it off before going to work to absolutely loving it and wishing that I had the whole range to try out.

What we all judge lip products on are their ability to look great on the lips, i.e the pigmentation and colour pay-off, how long they last and the added extras of how they feel and whether they are drying on the lips or not. Let’s cut to the application, you’re supposed to apply the colour, from corner to corner in 3 coats, letting it dry in between for a few seconds. There’s no instructions telling you not to rub your lips together, like we all do out of habit, because they’ll stick together like nothing ever before and you’ll ruin the finish. P.S Don’t do that, I learnt the hard way. The finish will stay sticky until you apply the gloss top coat. Also, when you apply the product it hurts worse than the classic Soap & Glory ‘Sexy MotherPucker’ sting at first, what that is, I have no idea, I’m only guessing it’s supposed to happen. Stick with me here, I promise it gets better.

Anyway, after you’ve got your desired colour and finish, (without shutting your mouth even a tiny bit, because it will stick like nothing else you’ve ever seen!) apply the glossy top coat that you have to buy separately to the lip colour (which I think is a swiz)  and your lipstick will transform into the most long wearing, glossy, non transferable, kiss-proof, non-drying thing I have EVER worn. This is honestly the best red lipstick I own and I would never have bought it if I’d seen the website and I hadn’t heard of them before this review but I honestly think the product is great. Check out the finish below, it’s really glossy and bright and is truly non transferable and stuck in place all day.

Apologies for all of the brackets and the possible terrible grammar that has been apparent in this post but it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride. This review has left me feeling sorry for Lip Sense, Sheer Sense, whatever the brand is because I don’t feel that they’ll get the credit that they deserve for this wicked product. They’re possibly priced slightly too high for the market too as they’re more expensive than many high end lipsticks and I don’t think they have enough brand credentials to be charging that much. I think they definitely need some web, social and branding help and possibly some formula issues with the tingling and sticky application before the gloss, but apart from all of those hurdles, I love the product and I’d love to try out some more colours. I think the nude & the pinks would be a great addition to everyone’s lipstick wardrobe.

Apparently Jennifer Aniston & Courtney Cox are fans? I’d love to know if they really are.
