So many ladies wonder why they’re keeping calories low and exercise high, yet they aren’t seeing results in the mirror. If anything, they could think that they look worse than before! There are a few things women need to do, in my opinion to ensure they get the best body they’ve ever had, and it probably goes against everything they’ve ever learned!
Cut Down Cardio
I’m serious. Think that you need to do a ton of cardio to get the results you want? Think again! Cardio is important, but not as important as you think. In fact, doing too much cardio can actually make your body eat the muscle you have, leading to a less toned physique! If you’re doing more than 45 minutes of cardio a day you definitely need to cut down. Usually 30 minutes is enough, especially if you’re doing it 6 days a week. You may need to experiment with what works for you, but be mindful of doing too much.
Start Resistance Training
Resistance training is the way forward, you’ve seen the #StrongNotSkinny hashtag right? Building up strength and muscle will not make you ladies bulky, so get that out of your head! It’ll make you leaner and more defined. You’ll also burn fat and calories even when you’re not doing anything at all, which is a huge bonus! Your metabolism will go through the roof too. Start putting more of a focus on resistance training rather than cardio, and you should notice results come thick and fast. When things start getting easy, add weights in. Just make sure you’re taking at least 1 rest day and getting lots of sleep so your body can repair itself!
Eat a Lot
You might think you have to eat less to look better, but this isn’t the case. If you’re exercising as outlined here, you need to eat a lot. You can use online macro calculators to help you figure out what to eat, and then it’s simply a case of tracking it with MyFitnessPal. You will need to eat more than you think. There’s no reason you should ever go hungry! All you need to do is make sure the foods you’re eating are healthy and filling. Avoid processed junk and anything labelled as ‘diet’! Think Positively
The main problem with most women trying to get fit and healthy is that they do it for the wrong reasons. Do this because you love and respect yourself. Be kind to yourself in your head. Think positive thoughts. Soon it will become second nature and you’ll see amazing results not only in your body, but in your life too.
