Wavy Long Bob Hair Tutorial

I get a few questions about how I style my hair occasionally so I thought it’d be fun to do a quick how to post about how I do it and what I use! This ends up looking like my photo in the top right, just if you haven’t seen it.

When I wash it, I always use Wella System Professional Luxe Oil on the ends to keep them happy and then roughly blow dry, sometimes I use a salt spray too but I’m never sure if I really see the benefits of it once I’ve finished my hair. If anyone has any texturising or salt spray recommendations I’d love to hear them please!

Step 1

I section my hair, once dry (or dry shampooed!) into a half-up do and concentrate on the bottom layer first. I roughly curl the underneath with my (pretty ancient) GHDs and then continue to bring segments down until it’s all done.

I use a kind of grabbing and twisting motion with my straighteners and it ends up looking a little like this!

Step 2

Once all my hair is roughly curled I go round and pop some of the ends inwards slightly as they can sometimes end up sticking out with this method of curling. I’m not really a curling wand type of gal, I prefer the boxy-ness of curling with straighteners on my hair.

Step 3

Now for the products! I shake a little (very little – this stuff is heavy duty!) Schwarzkopf got2b Powderful Volumising Styling Powder into the roots underneath the top sections of my hair and then a little bit through the lengths. I then spray some Schwarzkopf got2b Happy Hour 24-Hour Hairspray all over which has a nice hold but isn’t sticky or makes your hair go crispy – not a good look! My favourite dry shampoo is Batiste Dry Shampoo in Fresh at the moment and I’ve trialled a lot of dry shampoos to know what I like. What are you favourite hair care and styling products?
