It seemed for a while as though bathroom designs had gone the way of contemporary. Lights, fixtures and fittings were all designed with an eye on being as sleek as possible. Tiled walls and floors gave way to hardwood and glossy paintwork. It even seemed as though baths, toilets and sinks were giving convenience more thought than luxury.
But, as things tend to, we seem to be coming full circle. Fashion, style and, especially, interior design works in a roundabout way. Here are a few tricks to giving your bathroom a traditional shine that won’t break the bank.
Rustic Tubs
The new trend is seeing the return of rustic bathtubs, only this time they’re bringing a certain elegance with them. You get an intimate design with all the space in the world to lie back and enjoy the bubbles. Bliss!
Storage Solutions
Forget heated towel rails and complex shelving units. The humble bathroom cabinet is returning, and it’s about time! There’s nothing wrong with practicality, and when you hoard as many products as I do, it’s a welcome change. Leaving your shampoo and moisturizer hanging around is going to make your bathroom look cluttered. If you have the space, a side cabinet could do wonders.
Tiles
Bringing back tiles will instantly give your bathroom a familiar aura that is critical for relaxation time. When we’re looking to stress and unwind, we turn to soaking in the bath, right? Chaotic designs aren’t going to do anything for finding your inner chi, though. Cement tiles are making a comeback and with a host of innovating designs. Moroccan inspired patterns are particularly popular at the moment. And they’re perfect for those candlelit bath times to yourself.
If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, there are other things you can upgrade in your bathroom. Try putting in old-fashioned taps and pipework to give your bathroom some additional character. And don’t be afraid to decorate! Candles, plants and ornaments will go a long way to giving your bathroom some much-needed personality.
