Incase you missed it – I went to London a few weekends ago for a quick city break and thought I’d share some of my favourite places and some recommendations for anyone who might be planning to head to London but aren’t sure what to do apart from the usual sight-seeing and shopping. I wasn’t the most au fait with London before this trip, I’d been a couple of times but would never say that I ‘know’ the city so it was fun to explore.
Catch a Show
We headed to Covent Garden and watched Charlie & The Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal. It was awesome. I’ve seen Matilda previously in London and it was just as amazing. Even if you’re not into musicals or you think it’ll be for kids, you’ll really be surprised how much you enjoy it. Would seriously recommend this show to anyone who wants an evening of fun!
Head to Shoreditch
There is so much to do in the Shoreditch area. From the amazingly ridiculous Cereal Killer Cafe on Brick Lane to other really tasty places to eat such as Falafalicious at Boxpark and Bleecker Burger at Spitalfields market. There’s also tonnes of cool vintage shops and boutiques as well as your usual high-street stores which are all centred around the eclectic market place. Boxpark Pop-Ups shops are always changing, when we went there was a Gap Fit store, a Diptyque store and a really cute nail salon.
Other really cool stores to visit are Whatever It Takes if you’re into your fitness or CrossFit and The Bike Shed if you want a cool burger in a crazy motorbike shop with a barber’s attached. Yep.
If you fancy a great coffee, Brooklyn Coffee is a tiny cafe opposite Urban Outfitters just round the corner from Spitalfields market and it’s so great.
Southbank Food Market
On a Friday & a Saturday, on Southbank, they have an amazing food market which is packed full of stalls, definitely worth a go if you’re a foodie!
Soho is just around the corner from Oxford Street and is home to Bodean’s BBQ – the birthplace of UK BBQ food, this place is amazing. I’ve never really been a fan of pulled pork but this place made me like it! The ribs are amazing too. Soho is also home to Top Dog Soho, Frith Street Tattoo, Soho Grind and so many other cool places to eat and things to do.
Obviously a little walk around the sights is a must if you haven’t done this before! We had a walk to Leicester Sq and Piccadilly Circus at night time and it was crazy!
We loved heading to Carnaby Street, Liberty’s and my new favourite shop, & Other Stories! There are 3 H&Ms in the space of 50 metres walk from each other which is pretty nuts too. Of course there’s the three story Topshop!
