I really love eating healthy, it makes me feel great and I’m such a foodie. I hate boring food and love to cook and create new things, so all in all, we get it, I love food! In our house we eat pretty clean, fresh and healthy 80% of the time and love a treat on a weekend (or a Wednesday, who’s counting?). The only thing is, cheat meals can add up quickly! For example, a takeaway pizza will set you back at least £15 if you’ve got a coupon and up to £30 if you haven’t got lucky in voucher land! This gets crazy and sometimes I think it’s really not worth it.
Enter the homemade cheat meal! Not every meal I cook at home is 100% healthy, I’ll be the first to admit that and I’ve got a new favourite cheat. Homemade Chinese Curry with noodles or rice, salmon or chicken made using my new found favourites, the Goldfish Brand sauce concentrates. These are so easy to use and you can simply pick them up here at Tesco for just over £2! Add some veg, quick cook egg noodles and your meat of choice and you’ve got an amazing cheat meal that tastes straight out of the takeaway for under £5 a head.
This might seem like a normal meal but for us it’s definitely a cheat meal because it involves a sauce that we’ve not made ourselves and it adds a fair amount of calories to the dish. It’s definitely not an all out crazy cheat meal that involves 1000s of calories but it’s a great change for when you want to relax the diet a little and have something really yummy and comforting.
This is their awesome Chinese Curry Sauce but it comes in Japanese, Thai, Madras and Hot & Spicy versions. These sauces are so easy to use. All you do is mix one part sauce concentrate with three parts water and pour onto your favourite stir fry or curry. We cooked this up in our brand new wok that Goldfish Brand provided for us so a massive thank you to them for this baby!
