With 2021 just around the corner and we can start to put 2020 and a global pandemic behind us, it’s time to start planning to have some fun again. While the pandemic isn’t over yet, the good thing is we are learning to live with it and adapt to it. This way, we can continue to plan our lives around the rules and restrictions in place. It’s pretty clear that 2020 is finished and while Christmas may still go ahead it won’t be the typical Christmas we’re used to. To save disappointment, it’s better to accept that and start looking forward to 2021 and how you can make your birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and any other celebrations ones to remember and here are a few ways you can do that.
Think about the size and type of venue
No one knows what the rules and restrictions will be next year, but to play it safe you should have a look at larger venues than you might need, this way you will have enough room for your guests to social distance. It’s also worth looking at holding your event in the summer so that you can choose and outdoor venue where there is more space and people will feel safer too.
Think outside the box for food and drinks
Sadly there are going to have to be things you will have to forgo depending on what the case numbers are the what restrictions are in place. So, while you might not be able to have as many people as you would like, you will have more money for other things which you can really make an effort with such as food and drink. It will still be wise to look for serving styles that limit the spread of germs, so that would mean no buffets or self-serve options, but you could certainly look into mobile bar hire for events and street food vans as an option.
Make your guests feel safe
You can make your guests feel safe while still having some fun with your party. For example, you’ll need to make sure that you have enough hand washing and hand sanitising stations for your guests, and it could be fun to provide personalised or themed face masks.
Make the most of technology
The advances in technology have been what has saved most people throughout the pandemic, from being able to work from home to order online to entertainment during the lockdown. Technology looks like it will be the saviour for the future too and not just to help with the risk of the virus but with making life as normal as possible too. Think about having virtual guests at your party who can appear via a screen or send messages in advance.
Remember, when the time comes for your celebration, everything may be back to normal, and you might even be able to have over a hundred guests round to your house. If that’s the case, then it’s a bonus, but better to plan this way now and then change things nearer the time if you want to.
