Anti-aging fermented skincare with Florena [AD GIFTED]

This post includes gifted products.

I’ve been trialling some new skincare from Florena over the past few weeks and although I’m not sure I can vouch for the anti-aging effects of these products I wanted to share my thoughts as the products were gifted.

This whole range is fermented which is interesting and I wanted to find out more about what this meant. We’ve all heard about fermented food such as kimchi and other pickles being super good for you so why should it be any different when it comes to skincare? “The fermentation process is a natural way to break down a substance into a simpler form, making it more powerful. The fermentation process allows skincare products to be more efficacious and much more absorbable to give you the best results possible, in an effective and natural way!” – According to Boots.com.

The fermentation process means that the fermented oils contain at least 10 times more essential fatty acids which are great for skin health and they fight free radicals and strengthen the skin barrier. Florena skincare is also all a minimum of 99.4% natural, vegan, for all skin types and dermatologically approved.

Onto the products that I’ve tried…

5 MINUTE MASK FIRMING FACE MASK – A WEEKLY ANTI-AGE TREATMENT

This nourishing anti-ageing face mask provides an intensive treatment to help “visibly plump, firm & revitalize skin”. With 99.47% ingredients of natural origin, including fermented olive oil & fermented honeysuckle it’s also enriched with hyaluronic acid. I love a good sheet mask at the moment so it was nice to use a more classic face mask that also wasn’t a clay mask as these are usually the type that I go for. It feels really moisturising and I always like products with hyaluronic acid in them to boost the moisture of my skin.

ANTI-WRINKLE DAY CREAM

“The Florena Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream is enriched with fermented hyaluronic Acid, honeysuckle and fermented olive oil. A hydrating formula to improve skin firmness and elasticity, whilst visibly reducing lines and wrinkles in 2 weeks.”

ANTIOXIDANT NIGHT CREAM

This is an overnight antioxidant boost using powerful fermented skincare ingredients with enhanced antioxidant action to nurture & restore skin overnight. With 99.47% ingredients of natural origin. As with the day cream, it smells lovely. I like a scented product so I can’t recommend what this would be like if you’re not a fan of strong-smelling products or if you have skin sensitive to fragrance but at least we know that the fragrance is natural. I really like the smell of the Florena products personally, they’re pretty and smell quite luxurious.

I found that both the day cream and night cream are quite thick so they feel nice a luxury but they do take a while to sink into the skin making the day cream not perfect for quick morning routines. The day cream also doesn’t have SPF so I’m not sure if I’d purchase it due to this, I like a multi tasking product and will usually combine my SPF and moisturiser step so that I don’t have too many products on my skin.

The night cream was just as thick and therefore took a while to sink in which isn’t as much of an issue in the evening but I did feel like once it was sunk in, my face felt quite matt and not really hydrated. I didn’t feel like my skin was dry in the morning or anything but I’ve had more plumped and hydrated skin in the past from other products. Both of the day and night creams are £24.99 for 50ml and I think, personally, this is quite expensive and would put me off purchasing it.

REGENERATING FACIAL OIL

I think this product, at £24.99 is fine as it’s 30ml and seems a lot bigger than the moisturiser for the money. It again smells incredible and I really like a facial oil to add into my skincare routine after moisturising. It’s enriched with fermented white helichrysum (a flower), argan oil and safflower oil this nourishing skincare booster rehydrates and rejuvenates skin leaving it nourished, soft and supple. I’m definitely going to be adding this into my facial massage routine too, it’s perfect to use with a gua-sha!
