Pregnancy means lots of differences with your skin and everyone’s is different. I have very combination/oily skin which was really spot prone and I’ve struggled with it for ever but since I’ve been pregnant my skin is very dry including my face and I only had breakouts during the first 5-6 weeks of my pregnancy.
Bodycare
A product that was recommended to me was the Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter which is really lovely, it’s so moisturising and smells lovely but it’s quite expensive for what you get and the size of the product. I got this not even a month ago and it’s already finished which is probably the fastest I’ve ever used up £20 worth of product! Lovely but I’ll try and find a cheaper alternative before repurchasing.
I switched my deodorant as soon as we found out we were actually pregnant due to the aluminium and I’ve wanted to switch over to Wild for the environment benefits too for a while as of course it’s much less plastic waste and aerosols are bad for the environment too – so lots of plus points for it. I like all of the scents I’ve tried so far, the Sea Salt & Sage is really nice and I’ve found after about 2-3 weeks it really started to work as your body gets used to it. It’s not as crazy strong as some deodorants I’ve used in the past as I’m a Mitchum girl usually but as I’m not doing really intense workouts or anything at the moment it’s absolutely fine for day to day life. Skincare
Three of my daily essentials for skincare since I’ve been pregnant is the pregnancy-safe SPF Avène Very High Protection Tinted Mineral Fluid SPF50+ Sun Cream. As this is mineral it’s safe for pregnancy and there are a few options out there you just have to dig through the ingredients lists to seek out the ones that don’t have the chemical sunscreens in as these can be harmful to baby’s development. I’ll actually continue to purchase this Avene SPF after I’ve had baby though as I really like it for no-makeup days and as a final step to my skincare routine that’s half makeup as it has a little bit of coverage to start you off. Perfect for protection and a little perfecting for the skin. It comes in one shade I believe so this isn’t great at all for diversity and it’s a little pink for my skin tone but blends in well enough.
For my evening skincare routine I’ve still been using Skin + Me which I find so helpful as you can simply tell them you’re either trying to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding and they’ll amend your prescription to be pregnancy safe. My prescription has Niacinamide and Azealic Acid and it’s been working really well for me to keep my skin as clear as it can be. I still get the odd smaller spot but nothing like the struggles I was previously having. You can try for £3.50 for your first month too which is really good to see if it makes any difference for you.

Finally, a facial oil. I actually used Pai Skincare Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil previously before I was pregnant as it’s a really nice oil that doesn’t ever irritate my skin, it’s really calming. Cult Beauty say – “With regular use, it promises to deeply condition skin, improve firmness and elasticity and promote a clear, even skin tone – and all without a whisper of irritation.” I add this as my last skincare step after I’ve used my Skin + Me treatment in the evening. It has quite a natural smell which can be quite strong but once you know what to expect I think it’s quite nice.
That’s not all of my skincare products or routine but if you’d like to see that on Instagram let me know!
