My 2016 Fitness Goals

It’s here again. The beginning of a new year and we’ve all just realised we’ve probably haven’t hit our goals from last January… well I am anyway. Fear not, a whole new set of goals is here to (hopefully) stay and I thought I’d tell you mine so I can’t fail this time. Accountability and all that!

Since November, I’ve been doing CrossFit as opposed to heading to a ‘normal’ gym and it’s definitely changed me for the better. I was 100% done with the gym, I wasn’t going because I was so damn bored of it I just wouldn’t bother. I was sick of expensive fees so I moved to a cheaper gym, then I was sick of the fact the new gym didn’t have air conditioning because they couldn’t afford to fix it, then I was sick of the meatheads dropping their weights every two seconds and training in groups of 20 and just generally being dicks. And on top of all that I was sick of actually working out. Doing a set of this, a set of that and being unmotivated was getting super boring. So I’ve joined CrossFit, already increased some of my PBs, made some friends, competed in a ‘throwdown’ (friendly comp to you and me!) and gained confidence. This year’s goals are:

  1. Do a pull-up. Unassisted, no bands, no ring rows, just a pull-up, please. More than one would be good but I’m setting my standards at a reasonable pace right now!
  2. Compete in another throwdown.
  3. Increase my clean PB to 40kg (I’m currently at 30kg)
  4. Nail the rest of my PBs/Max Reps in the movements so I know where I can improve going forward.
  5. Complete the Clean Eating Challenge (more on this to come!)
  6. Do a press up. Not the girly kind.
