Healthy eating is all about the preparation. Here are five tips that I think make healthy easier (I won’t call it dieting because it’s not a quick fix!). I do all of these things in my day to day life to make eating generally easier because being hungry is just something I’m interested in! I hope they’re helpful.
1. Meal Plan
Get on Instagram, whack the cookbooks out, create a Pinterest board and get inspired! I think meal planning and eating healthy is so exciting. I love eating anything though to be fair, I love junk food, I love butter-filled home cooking, I love clean eating and I love flexible dieting. I get really excited when I find a new recipe that we both like! We’ve got a small white board in our kitchen and we plan our Monday – Friday meals before we head out shopping on a Saturday or Sunday morning. We usually play the weekends a bit more by ear but I don’t like to be stressing about what to eat mid-week.

2. Snacks, Snack, Snacks
You should obviously eat three healthy and balanced meals a day but I also like to have 3 snacks too! Mid-morning I like to have a tea or coffee at work and a baked snack like my berry oat bars, a banana or something a bit more substantial like a protein bar. I really like the Multipower 53% protein bars because they’re a bit like chewier Milky Ways, they don’t taste all gross and protein-y at all like some do. My favourite is the white chocolate covered berry flavour and the cookies & cream flavour is also awesome. By having healthy snacks about you’re less likely to reach for the office biscuit jar or a sugary muffin on the coffee run.

3. Tub It Up!
Invest in some great lunch boxes in all shapes and sizes. This really helps me feel prepared. My favourite are the type with clip lids, boring, but super secure!

4. Get There Early
When shopping I like to get there early before all the good stuff is gone! It’s just like sale shopping, especially in cheaper supermarkets like Lidl and Aldi where I really like to shop. We like to get to the supermarket just after it’s opened and then we can get in and out in 20 minutes with our shopping list and get everything we need! Shopping isn’t stressful if you help yourself out.

5. Make A Day Of It
Well, not a full day unless you’re catering for an army but I’d set aside an afternoon on the weekend to leisurely food prep for the week ahead. On a Sunday I like to make at least one meal for the week, a frittata or some egg muffins and a sweet baked snack as well as a yummy dinner for the evening. This way I’ll have at least two lunches for the week already made up as well as a whole host of snacks ready for whenever I feel peckish.
