From a healthy-eating post on Monday to a not-so-healthy eating review today! I love pizza. I will never give it up, sorry clean-eating me, it won’t happen. When Chicago Town sent me a few vouchers to pick up their latest range of pizza-inventions I was straight down to Tesco picking up these badboys. First up, the Pizza-Melt, I have a bone to pick with them about this though, I expected (maybe naively) for the pack to have two of these pizza melts in but it actually only had one. They were obviously really tasty, we tried the pepperoni, ham & mushroom variety and they were a nice little Sunday afternoon snack! We also went for the classic Deep Dish mini pizzas which microwave in a diet-cheating 3 minutes and they were also amazingly tasty! Check them out if you’re after a seriously quick and yummy cheat meal.
I’ve seen overnight oats everywhere recently, Pinterest, Instagram, Buzzfeed, you name it, they’re all over social media! I’ve wanted to try some for a while but I wasn’t keen on eating it cold, I think it’s a bit gross. So, here’s a little recipe I made out of a few different ones I had a look at which can be eaten hot or cold! The macros per portion are approximately 170 calories (before you add extra toppings) 5g of fat, 23g of carbs and 6g of protein. I really like these, they taste great and are so quick to prepare the night before and even quicker to heat up in the morning.
I stole this recipe of one of my friends from work and decided to share because it’s super yummy (thanks Becki)! The macros are around 8g of protein, 18g of carbs & 4g with around 150 calories which is pretty good for a clean eating kinda snack. Check out the recipe below if you like the look of these.
I admit it, I’m not the best cook. But, when Copthorne Hotels asked me to recreate their chef Mark’s recent recipe it sounded to nice to turn down. Check out the recipe and what it’s supposed to look like (!) here. The Copthorne Meatball is a seriously meaty and homely dish. There’s nothing better than mashed potato and gravy in my opinion, so let’s get to it!
This weekend I was invited down to Revolution Hockley to give their new street-food inspired ‘Revolution Kitchen’ menu a try. We all know ‘Vodka Revs’ as the place of 1000 different types of vodka and your average high-end pub food with 50% off Mondays. These guys are breaking out of the mould and actually giving their menu some extra thought. This new menu is based on the ‘foodie scenes of New York and San Francisco’ and we all know street-food is seriously on trend right now. I was excited to give it a go, and *spoiler alert* – I was really impressed!
This protein jelly was really hard to mix and I felt like it was essentially normal jelly mix just with added protein powder and it was so lumpy even though I whisked it with a fork for at least 5 minutes. I popped it in the fridge for 2 hours like the packet said and it was totally set, super quickly. It set with a foamy/fluffy layer on top and the jelly was normal underneath it. I think it would be fine if it was mixed properly but it was really difficult to do. If anyone has any tips, let me know!
You know what the best deliveries are? WINE DELIVERIES! I Heart Wines were kind enough to send me this little taster pack of their wine selection to see what I thought. I’m saving them up for a little wine & cheese night with the girls so I can’t wait for that.
What’s great about these baby-bottles of wine is that you don’t have to waste any! I love a glass of wine but I never buy a whole bottle unless we’re having a get together because I won’t get through the whole thing. They also sent the cutest Boomf marshmallows with their logo on which was a really nice touch. I Heart Wines are currently re-doing their website so I’ll be excited to see that when it goes live.
A few weekends ago I headed ‘down London’, as my Nan would say, to see one of my gorgeous best friends in her new flat. We had the most food-fuelled couple of days and it was awesome. I wanted to share the places that we headed to with you guys just in case you’re heading to Brixton anytime soon! There were a million and one amazing looking cafes, pubs and bars that I wanted to try but these were the ones we ended up with and they were all delicious.
Monkey Nutrition isn’t a brand that I’ve heard of before but when I was offered some of their Primal 26 Whey Protein Isolate to review and as a daily user of protein powder I thought I’d give it a go! There’s a massive 26g of protein in each scoop (the scoops are 30g as opposed to the standard 25g from MyProtein & The Protein Works). They only come in Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry flavours, which isn’t really a lot when you compare to some competitors but we use Vanilla in our protein breads and other baking. For our day to day shakes we usually go for more exciting flavours.
Today’s post is all about our beloved Tassimo VIVY (T12) coffee machine. Technically this is my boyfriend’s as it was his birthday present last year but it’s my little coffee baby too. It’s so nice on a Sunday, when you fancy a proper coffee shop caramel latte to have one from the comfort of your sofa whilst watching Sunday Brunch!
