Oh hi there, it’s been a little while and this post is exactly the reason why it’s been a couple of weeks since my last post. You can blame this little grey room for the lack of content around here because it’s just been super duper hectic as we’ve really cracked on with decorating these past few weeks.
Say hello to our almost finished bedroom. Previously we had a dingy and dusty beige carpet and whitewashed walls with a huge built in wardrobe and some ridiculous built in bedside tables. We’ve spun our bed around so it’s the focal point as you walk in and we’ve added some more furniture because IKEA and storage is life. I actually didn’t take any before photos so this is more of a little showcase and a photo diary of our bedroom as it’s currently decorated but, just image a white room with a dirty carpet and you’ve got the level of grimness that we started with when we moved in 6-7 months ago.

We knew that we wanted a bit of a hotel vibe with our new room as we like our bedroom to feel super relaxing, luxurious and just downright comfy at the end of the day and I think we’ve achieved what we set out to do with this room. First up we treated ourselves to a new bed and we bagged this Argos ‘Condor’ bed for £200 when it was a new year offer which was a £49 saving already. We installed new carpets, both in here and our spare room with the same one which saved a bit of money because it would have been more expensive to do them separately. We went to Carpet Right and honestly I’ve been really impressed and I’d recommend them for sure. Super quick fitting and a really reasonable price and the carpets feel super squishy even though they were a standard £6.99 per sq m with their middle of the road underlay. I’m really happy with them for the investment.

Our walls are ‘Cosy Grey’ from Wilko and ‘Charcoal’ also from Wilko but I honestly wouldn’t recommend this paint. It took a lot of coats and as we wanted to edge in where the two colours met the paint looked completely different and we had to repaint an entire wall or two which wasn’t ideal. It looks fine now it’s on and there’s furniture in but it was a bit of a nightmare. We also glossed the skirtings and our door with plan white gloss to freshen things up.
We already had our 4 drawer Malm set from IKEA but we both needed more storage so bought ourselves the £40 4 drawer Malm set each to also double up as a bedside table. I think they fit the alcoves really nicely and a smaller bedside table would have looked a bit lost. I like to use space to it’s best capacity because it’s a small-ish terrace house so I don’t want to feel cramped. That’s the basics! Our wardrobes are in our spare room/office if you’re wondering where the hung up clothes live as they won’t fit in here without feeling overwhelming as we, again, have a whole wardrobe each after sharing one for the past 5 years.

Accessories wise, we have a selection of grey and pink sheets so they all look fine in here but I really want to try some polka dot ones, I’ve spotted some in H&M which are on my list for pay day because I think they’ll look cute. Our cushions are two H&M covers at the back, which they don’t seem to have in stock but they do have tonnes of grey cushions still if you’re interested. Our little grey velvet cushions and the light grey throw are from Beautify – one of the cushions and the throw were a gift that I originally featured in this post and I bought the other to match them up. The pink Cox & Cox velvet and linen cushions were also a gift over a year ago. The grey sheets, dark grey blanket and the rug are all IKEA too.

Our plant pots and the round black mirror are Matalan and I can’t remember where the skull (which is actually a money box! is from, maybe Urban Outfitters a few years ago?) The lamps are from Aldi a while a go and our prints are Juniqe Art Shop that I was gifted over a year ago. That should be everything in here but if I’ve missed anything that you like, let me know and I’ll let you know where it’s from! None of these links are affiliate but I’ve told you when something has been gifted.
You can check out our dining room makeover and our living room decor if you’re feeling nosy too!
